Thanks everybody.I,m a bit of bullheaded old b----- and thought i could deal with this addiction all by myself.I now see it,ll be a lot easier with support like this !!I,m still not sure about quitting( did i say i was bullheaded )so I think i will just do this one day at a time. I read a lot of the other post and found myself in many similar situations.I,ll keep in touch perhaps I,ll get lucky and read a post that will sell me 100% on the plus side of quitting..

I,m not sure what will motivate me "stickin to it".One of the problem,s is I don,t have any side effect,s from smoking.Perhaps the reason is I smoke cigars.I,m in very good health for a guy 68 according to my docter who is also very supportive of me quitting smoking.Another part of the problem is I did,nt plan my retirment very well, income dropped 75%,no new interests, etc, etc,so it became very easy to grab a bottle of liquor,a package of cigars, park my butt in front of the computer, get wasted, smoke and have a good time ??? Sorry for the whinning but maybe there,s somebody else who is in the same dillema that can benifit from my experience ??

Rainie don,t feel sorry for me I realy have been Captain of my own ship and master of my own fate !! As you may have guessed i,m double addicted so this journey is doubly difficult.I really appreciate all of your suggestions. Not all is bad. I have led a rather adventures life believe me and i may be expecting too much from you fine people. Many of the suggestions are excellent but as the saying goes "Bin there done that"and much more.I maybe guilty of expecting all of you to come up with that "magic answer"and what I really need is professional help??In the meantime I enjoy chatting with all of you and will carry on with the non smoking L@K,ss Bear

Hey Changing Don,t worry about chasing me.Everybody who has sent a thread has been very upbeat!! and encouraging it,s just what the doctor ordered.Ive tried quitting 4 times before?? but this is the first time i,ve used a support group.I,m on the patch courtesy of peel regional health.I probably would,nt have even considered quitting if I had,nt seen the add in the newspaper for free drug,s.Now the journey has started and with all the help I,m getting I,m starting to feel very good about this..
