day 5

Hi Val, Around Day 5 was when my sleep pattern changed. I became very restless, would awaken in the middle of the night, and be awake for what seemed like hours. I started taking one Exedrin PM just before bed to help me get to sleep. (I checked with Dr. and got the okay) I figured it wasn't as strong as a regular sleeping pill, and it worked. Last night was the first real nights sleep in a few days, so maybe the worst is over as far as sleeping goes. Hang on, it will get better. Keep quit! Post and read often, it's amazing how it helps. Emotional reasons for smoking - hope this helps!

wackydog, I understand completely. Once we come to understand that what happened to us in childhood shapes the adult we become, we have to bring those things out one last time, examine them, and then throw them away, or at least file them under "done". Then we can move on. Good luck in your quit. So many of us have to try and fail. Sneak attack on Day 8

Okay, so my arm is aching from patting myself on the back for making it through Hell week. Today the cravings are stronger than ever. I know now that it's nothing I cannot handle, but today is worse than all last week. I don't know if I have enough hard candy on hand and I probably gained 2 pounds already today! It was a strong urge in the car this morning, and I haven't smoked in the car for 3 weeks! I was hoping that this would be even easier, but maybe last week was just the 'calm before the storm'. Normal? The Magic Ship Continues!

Hey everybody, We got ourselves a health professional! Someone to "patch" up any "cold turkeys" and hand out those little blue pills! (No, Capt Sir, the "other" little blue pills) Nurse, a couple shipmates seem to be a bit under the weather: Faith needs some TLC so she can attend her birthday party tonight. And please see if you can help Rainie...we need her at the birthday bash tonight. Are you a "mental health" professional? A few of us could use one of those as well. Methinks you may have a busy day, but find some time to brush up on your special talent for FaithFreedom's birthday bash tonight. Stay quit! MomMom Why is it that doctors call it "practice"? The Magic Ship Continues!

Just a quick message to ask for your support for Nurse29, who came to the site today for the first time. She is someone VERY close to me, so a warm welcome in your own inimitable style is appreciated. Thanks mates! Day 1...again

Welcome Nurse29! Your mother was right, this is the place for support and to have all of your questions addressed by those who have been there and done that. So you had a little slip...it happens! Don't let it interrupt your quit! Read much and post often, it really helps. MomMom PS I know your mother well, what a lovely non-smoking woman she is! The Magic Ship Continues!

Thank you all for the good wishes. Couldn't have done it without you. Well, maybe I could have, but it wouldn't have been nearly as much fun! Today, especially this morning, was very rough, but I am doing better now. Have to share a little good news...my daughter let me know today that her quit is only one day behind mine. Hadn't talked to her for a couple days, so I was pleasantly surprised that she has done so well cold turkey. Her husband is also trying to quit, but she didn't say how he is doing. Wish I could get her to this site...she would love it. I am so looking forward to the talent show tomorrow night. Capt, you ready to pucker up and blow some blues? I was practicing my juggling in my cabin this morning, but I gave it up when I heard yelling each time I missed...I guess bowling balls falling on the floor at 5 a.m. were waking up some sleepyheads. Sorry! Rainie, how was the fishing today? I really wanted to join you, I LUV fishing! You can probably see the fish before you catch them in this beautiful clear water! Martinique tomorrow! I'm ready! Is it a non-smoking island? Thanks again, mates! Full Speed Ahead to the Land of Quit!
