Why Can't I have Just ONE

If there were poisonous berries on your kitchen counter would you want to eat just one? My first day without a cigarette

Hi Karrie, Congrats on the first day of the new clean smelling you! I kind of did what you did, just didn't hit the store for more. Just take it one hour at a time and educate yourself about why we crave nicotine, etc. Sorry, can't help you with the workbook....Good luck to you! nicotine

I saw on the ABC nightly news last evening that cigarette manufactures are putting an all time high amount of nicotine in the cigarettes. Thus, creating it more difficult for people to quit. And yes, they are able to do this because the FDA does not regulate cigarettes. We all picked a good time to quit - in the future it may be more difficult. I like to think that I am striking against those companies! They aren't going to get me! How about posting all the plus points we've found in stopping?

I like that I am in control here...I am no longer planning my life around a smoke break. And, as I have mentioned several times, I SMELL SO GOOD! I am going to try to quit tomorrow

Pack some suckers with you! They were my friend for the first week! I also heard that cinnamon sticks were good to use. I couldn't find them though, larger grocery stores probably carry them. Good luck and stay strong. At least give it a try.

working on three!!!

Hi Slivers! The "little hairs" on your lungs are called cilia! I took college level biology a few years ago and those little hairs caught my attention. I think it takes them six weeks to grow back. My smoking buddy that sat next to me in class is wanting to quit smoking too. She also said she wants her "cilia" back! If nothing else stuck with me in that class, I do remember those little hairs. Good luck to you! We can do this! Actually, we ARE doing this! Pray for me

Hi Hopeful, Don't be so hard on yourself. Take it one hour at a time. Who is stronger? You or the cigarette? You owe it to yourself and your children to atleast give it a good try, one hour at a time. Encouragement for brand new quiters

I quit smoking two weeks ago yesterday! Yeah for me! Thought I would share something to encourage people just starting on their quit. I was just outside making a fire since we burn all of our trash. I also used to burn butts and empty packs. Anyway, a few old butts resurfaced and guess what? I threw them right into the fire!!!!! Two weeks ago I would have puffed on any butt around! Today when I saw them not only did they kind of gross me out but I was actually angry at them. They controlled my life for 13 years. They weren't my friend like I thought they were. The moral of the story is, I (and only I) am in control of my life now. I feel it was meant for me to find those butts so I would realize how far I have come in such a short time. There is hope past the first few hours, days, and week!!!!!
