Hi Slivers! The "little hairs" on your lungs are called cilia! I took college level biology a few years ago and those little hairs caught my attention. I think it takes them six weeks to grow back. My smoking buddy that sat next to me in class is wanting to quit smoking too. She also said she wants her "cilia" back! If nothing else stuck with me in that class, I do remember those little hairs. Good luck to you! We can do this! Actually, we ARE doing this! Hang in there Silvers! You're almost over the first 72 hours and I've heard from so many good folks here that those are the absolute worst. I'll bet your new cilia are already poking their heads out and having a look around. By the time you finish hell week, those little hairs will have a good sprout on them. Every time you have a craving, just picture them growing longer when you resist the nicodemon. Hope the coughing and crying settles down soon. HI, 2 DAYS DOWN AND THE REST OF MY LIFE TO GO, HOPEFULLY! THIS TIME I GOT THE 21MG PATCH. WORKING MUCH BETTER THAN THE GUM THAT I TRIED THE LAST TIME. HAVE BEEN READING ALL THE POSTS EVERY DAY BUT JUST TO CRABBY TO POST. LOTS OF CRAVINGS AND A BAD HEADACHE BUT SO FAR MANAGED TO FIGHT THEM OFF. CAN'T WALK OUTSIDE TODAY CAUSE ITS SNOWING HERE. COUGHING A LOT WHICH IS GOOD I GUESS, EXCEPT IT GETS ON EVERYONES NERVES!!! I KNOW I CAN MAKE IT THIS TIME, WITH THE SUPPORT THAT COMES FROM THIS SITE. GOOD LUCK TO ALL THE NEW ONES HERE. SOMEONE TOLD ME THAT THE LITTLE HAIRS IN YOUR LUNGS WON'T HEAL. DOES ANYONE KNOW IF THAT IS TRUE. I WAS LED TO BELIEVE THEY COME BACK TO NORMAL IN TIME. WELL GOTTA GO COUGH MY HEAD OFF AND MAYBE HAVE A GOOD CRY. God bless those little hairs in our lungs. They grow back even though we've spent years being mean to them. I know I want mine back!!!! Good for you, Slivers, for not giving up. I'm using the patch as well, and it does take the edge off. Keep going strong, and remember to post often, or when you feel like it. I know at times if I'm feeling REALLY miserable, I just want to lay on my loveseat with my comfy blanket. You can do this, Cheers, Jan My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/13/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 8 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 263 Amount Saved: $72 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 23 Mins: 38 Seconds: 50

Slivers, Your lungs will heal. I know withdrawals aren't fun but hang in there! You're on day three already with day four just around the corner. That's half way through hell week. Be sure to reward yourself often this week. You're working hard and deserve it! Danielle _________________________ The SSC Support Team
