hello back to day one

Hi Niks, Day 3 for me too!! This morning is a little harder for me but, I'm doing okay. If you need to talk, I'll be here on my computer working on my book work. (The computer is a major trigger for me.) I've lost count of how many pieces of gum I've chewed but my jaws are so sore. ha ha ha You're doing great and I really admire you for being able to resist your co-worker's smoking. Wow!! That's a hard one but you've really done a wonderful job there. Have an NRT question

brentw1, Okay....72 hours, 72 hours, 72 hours....I'm holding you to that!!! ha ha ha ha If I still feel like smacking my husband around some after today, I'm gonna have to write you a strongly worded letter. ha ha ha ha ha Just a little quitter's humor there. This is day 3 so Phil, if you have some of those laughing tablets, sail some of those puppies over here. ha ha ha ha Tutti My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/18/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 3 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 179 Amount Saved: $8.37 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 8 Mins: 15 Seconds: 44

Mrs Angry checking in. Angry, angry, angry!

Serenity, I'm not going to get philosophical about anger. The fact is, dogs that bark consistantly, and dog owners who won't make their pets hush up, make us mad. Inconsiderate drivers to the same thing. It doesn't matter whether we smoke or not. Those are two situations that piss the average person off. Your anger may be a little more intense right now because of your quit but, I think feeling angry over those types of situations is normal. Wait until you go to the grocery store and someone blocks the isle and seems to ignore you even after you've said, "Pardon me" two or three times. ha ha ha ha You'll be fine. Just hang in there. It sounds like you're being snowballed with annoying situations right now. Hello, day 8

Hi Wendy, You may want to give your doctor a quick call about the patches and red marks you're developing. If for no other reason, your own peace of mind. I wish I could tell you more about the patches but I'm quitting without using anything....I can't use NRT's for health reasons. I'm finishing up day 2 so you're ahead of me and doing great. I've noticed what helps me more than anything else with my cravings is water. I mean lots and lots of water. I have my gum, candy, tooth picks, and straws here but water kicks my cravings quicker than anything else will. And, I have to busy myself by doing something different for a while. Hang in there and keep talking to us. We're all here for you and you can do this. You're already into day 8 and that's great!! When the family wont help

Hi BabyBlue, You already have a good plan by leaning on us. I'm not going to say negative things about your husband. The fact is, he's addicted to nicotine just like the rest of us and he has to make up his mind to quit smoking for himself. No one can force him to quit. So you will have to do the work but then lean on us and other non-smokers during your quit. And maybe, just maybe, later on your husband decide to quit for himself. I think you have to leave it up to your husband to decide for himself if or when he wants to quit. You just focus on YOU and your quit. We've got your back. Okay? Hugs, Tutti My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/18/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 3 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 167 Amount Saved: $8.37 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 7 Mins: 44 Seconds: 26

Have an NRT question

Hi Josie, I battled the crave last night and that one was really bad. I actually started having the shakes and some hot flashes and didn't prepare for those. I settled myself down with slow, deep breaths and lots more water. I decided to go that way and not use nicorette gum after the burning sensation. I kept chewing sugar free bubble gum, sucking sugar free hard candy, toothpicks, straws, and things like that. I did all of these things while I got myself busy. Today is the end of day two now. I haven't been hit with a horrible crave like the one last night. I've had craves but I immediately start doing something different to take my mind off of it. Plus, I'm drinking so much water. Tomorrow is day Three. Wish me luck guys!! New quitter...again

ToughEnough, I know you are tough enough to quit and quit for good. We're all here for you and we're all pulling for you. Keep coming to this site and reading. It really helps a lot. I'm finishing up day 2 tonight and fixing to go on to bed. So, we can lean on each other when those cravings hit and when we want to just vent. Have your gum and hard candy there and lots of water. I'm so glad you've made the decision to quit. You sound like I did.....So sick of that ball and chain. Welcome and good luck. We're all cheering you on. Day 6 and going crazy

Hi April, Just hang in there, okay? You've already suffered through cravings and withdrawals too much to give in now. I'll bet the feelings you're going though will end soon. Just have your gum, candy, whatever, and lots of water. I mean lots of water because water is killing my cravings and that jittery feeling more than anything. AND, just get up and do something real quick. Even if you just walk over to your bottle of lotion and apply some on your arms and hands. It'll make you feel better to pamper yourself a wee bit. Keep reading the posts and you post as much as you need or want to. You may be having your major cravings later rather than at the beginning of your quit. But, you can get through it....I know you can. You're doing wonderful. I'm finishing up day 2 myself and last night was horrible. I hung in. My knuckles were white but I made it. Today, was much, much easier. Tomorrow is day 3 for me and I'm a little nervous about that one. So, I send you good luck and many prayers. You send me some back, okay? ha ha ha ha Hugs, Tutti My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/18/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 3 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 165 Amount Saved: $8.37 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 7 Mins: 39 Seconds: 28

Gloom, Despair, and Agony on Me...Deep Dark Depression, Excessive Misery

I'm still hanging on here. I'm feeling okay right now. Actually, my system feels like a sock that has been turned inside out. So I feel really tired and worn out. I know one thing, Anyone can learn to smoke but quitting is NOT for sissies. ha ha Thanks Again Everyone! Gloom, Despair, and Agony on Me...Deep Dark Depression, Excessive Misery

I'm still hanging in here and, the pressure has eased quite a bit. I took a break, ran down to the store, and bought.....NO! NOT SMOKES.....but sunflower seeds, green apple sugar free gum, and two more types of sugar free mints. On the way to the store, I literally chewed that demon out. I kept commanding, "Back off!! Just back off!!" Rather than being angry about any and everything, I focused my anger towards IT. You know, I suffered from anxiety attacks a long time ago and that's the technique I used to get passed them. I forgot all about that technique. Thank you so much for running to my side the way you have. What a great group of friends. God, what a blessing you are, each and everyone of you.
