Maybe my second try will work...

Welcome PinkTexas! You have made the right decision! Children are such the inspiration for many things in our lives. Think of your son often. I completely understand your thoughts on the mother/smoking thing! That is why I came here too! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 30 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 920 Amount Saved: $98.1 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 11 Mins: 13 Seconds: 50

How do I make nicodemon powerless???

Hi! Personally, I don't think there are different cravings. First of all, the nicoteen is out of your system by now, so now it you are battling your addiction. Nicodemon is sneaky. I did ask the very same question as you did. Everyone responded by saying to stay on guard. He will creep up on you. Be cautious. Any thought of smoking is just the junkie talking. Reconize it, and just like Shevie said, prepare for it. It truely is less if it is anticipated. Hold true to yourself. You have a very great quit right now. Don't let anything jeapordize it! Stay strong. Stay informed. Stay ahead of the game - by being prepared. Congrats on your 7 day quit! You are doing GREAT! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 30 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 920 Amount Saved: $98.1 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 11 Mins: 13 Seconds: 30

First Non-Smoking Day Over...PLEASE HELP!

Hi Crystal! You have made a wonderful decision to quit smoking! There is so much more you can offer your daughter! Think of her when you hold her - you no longer smell like an ashtray! :) That is one happy thought for me. I also am not an outsider, trying to hide my smoking from other parents as to not look like a horrible mother. It has held 1 of my girls back from playdates. I didnt want any of the moms at her school to know I smoked. I couldnt go on field trips. My biggest regret is that I couldnt help out in her class. That is a limited time only. She wont want me there soon. :( There is so much that I feel I wronged my kids by. But I wont go into any more than what I have already said. I just wanted to let you know that you have to quit for YOU. Your daughter can be your inspiration, but your reason to quit has to be for yourself. :| Dont worry about the weight. If you work just as hard trying to be healthy as you are from not smoking, you will be fine. Keep healthy snacks readily available. They are fine for all of your hunger bouts. Take your daughter for walks. Sign up for a yoga class or some other class. Find a sport that you like, and go for it. I am going to start swimming in June. I also joined a gym, actually as a reward, as it has classes for my girls & me to do together. I try to spend as much time as possible doing things that I was unable to do before. I have also found new hobbies. Hope this helps! Good luck and know that we are here for you every step of the way! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 29 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 898 Amount Saved: $94.83 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 9 Mins: 48 Seconds: 10

First day!

Welcome Razoredge! You have come to the right place! :) We are pretty close in our smoking stats. I smoked for 18 years and was a pack and a half a day. I tried twice before to quit, but not seriously though. They only lasted a few hours. So I consider this my first real try. So far, so good. I quit cold-turkey. In my first week, I slept a lot, cried, and felt so spacey! It finally subsided by the 3rd week. I came here a lot and read old posts. Then I started to post. I stick by this site all of the time. It really helps me to get through. Keep us posted on how ya are doing. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 29 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 898 Amount Saved: $94.83 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 9 Mins: 46 Seconds: 31

Giving up

When we quit, some go through some soul searching. We find parts of ourselves that were covered in a cloud of smoke. My advice..... get yourself help. Depression is not something to pass. Once you feel better about yourself, give your quit a new, fresh, and honest start. We will be here still. Waiting for you. :( My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 31 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 945 Amount Saved: $101.37 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 12 Mins: 52 Seconds: 4
