New and excited and scared

Welcome Christian Girl! It seems you have already done some steps in the right direction! You came here and decided on a NRT. Thats 2 steps in your quit already! I do strongly suggest you use the tools to the left. It is very important to have a plan and information. I believe there are 3 parts to a quit: knowledge, planning, and determination. With all 3 of these, you will suceed. The tools on the left will help you decide what to do when you have a craving. I too smoked while on the computer, in my garage. So, now I dont use that computer. Simple. What might help you is if you smoke inside your home, give your computer area a deep cleaning. Clean desk, wipe cd's, etc... Get some Fabreeze and spray away. Vow from now on that you will not smoke while on the computer. It will help you when you do quit. Enjoy that clean spot, and start re-training yourself that the computer is a non-smoking area. NO EXCEPTIONS. We wish you all the best. Please post and read a lot. It really does help! Stay strong and focused. When you quit, just take one hour (or minute) at a time. We are here for you! **** 4my2girls **** ;) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 14 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 292 Amount Saved: $45.78 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 4 Mins: 11 Seconds: 50

Killer weekend

Hi Cincere, It sure sounds like an aweful weekend. But the one bright thing is that you did not smoke. Be proud of that. I feel somewhat like you do. My hubby & I quit together. However, it seems my problems with my hubby were in fact "hidden in a cloud of smoke" as golferman so kindly put it. I never realized it before. I have done some soul searching and discovered a new me. Inside and out. My feelings have changed, some things are important, and some are not. I'm not sure what the future hold for me & hubby and our kids, but I do know I choose not to smoke. I want to create my "old life" in a new way, with new meanings, and new ways to handle anything life throws at me. My girls are my inspiration. I love them more than anything. quit day

Hi Allynna! I was just wondering if you stuck with your quit this morning? If so, how are you doing so far? Just taking it little by little helps a lot. When you look at the big picture (like a month or so) it can get overwhelming!! I still think that way. I only concentrate on getting through today. Using the tools on this site really helps too. Plan your quit. Then stick to it. You sound like you have determination to suceed! Don't listen to everyone else. Are they non smokers? Then they cannot possibly understand. and if they are still smokers, then they are probably jealous. Anyhow, listen to your kids. Listen to yourself. You can do it!!!!! Sooooo Frustrated!!! Why Now!!!

Thank you so much Chicken! Your words are EXACTLY what I am feeling! I hate this part with every inch of me...... My hubby and I quit together, and for the past couple of days, it seems I dislike him very much. I know deep down I dont, but people just irrate me right now. I do feel a little better today. Less anger, but more tears. I am thinking of calling doctor to see if I can get meds for depression. My doctor is tough though, so it might be a waste of a lot of money just to see her. She usually doesnt give me any meds unless dire emergency......... Thank you so much for this bump. It really helps to know that I am not a lunatic!!!! I too am a very organized and clean house person. My hubby thought I would fight my cravings by scouring the grout, cleaning the walls, etc..... Boy is he suprised and disappointed. Oh well, I know this will pass. Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!! 2 month symtons

Hello there. I have been posting and reading today on the blah thing. But I like Christine's thinking. It just lifted me up and I am actually feeling better right now. My favorite part is:
The cloud will pass.. you have fallen into the acceptance of not smoking and the reality of life is returning..
Even through all of the stuff Christine is going through, she still doesn't dwell on not smoking. That is the great part. I have dwelled on the fact that I do not smoke. Why???? I do not want to smoke. It feels crazy!!!! I also like when she said:
Time to make yourself get out there.. start living that smoke free life.. sports, long movies, road trip.. ??
That is exactly what I need to do. Thanks for listening! When will it get better?

Dear Struggling, That is a wonderful idea! Stop obsessing over the cig and the crave, and you will get through it much easier! I too had the obsessive thoughts about smoking and not smoking. It did change once I made the decision to accept this quit, and stand firm on not smoking. I accepted and embraced the concept that my life is a new life. A healthy life. A fun life. And smoking has no place in it. Ever. It is hard to still look beyond today, but I know I will never smoke again. Embrace your new life. There should be no poor me, and self pity. You have done a wonderful thing! Think of some new thoughts of a brand new life. Most people dont get a second chance. Take advantage of this opportunity to sieze yours! You are doing great! It does get better, you just have to get out of this black cloud over your head. But protect your quit at all costs. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 32 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 973 Amount Saved: $104.64 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 14 Mins: 37 Seconds: 41
