Day One

Hi Alison, Great decision on quitting!! I think it is the most important thing that we can do in our life! I am only 30+ days into my quit but have that feeling inside that this is the one quit that will stick. Now I think that I am feeling this way is because I have stuck it out through some really touch times and took to heart what I researched the subject about what smoking does to our bodies. You know how when you are a kid and it seems like everything is a mountain that seems sooo difficult to climb at times? And then how when you get older you look back and think how silly I was to have had such a hard time with those EASY problems? Well, this is the same kind of thing. We just need to grow-up (or out) of smoking. Get only the major hump and mature as a non-smoker. I know it is worth every crave, craze and horrible day that we have and will go though while quitting. YOU (WE) CAN DO THIS!!! IT should be more then just 240 cigs not smoked by now!

Hey Bingo (love your name), After re-reading my post I feel very much like Chief Inspector Drefuss with the suction cup arrow stuck to his forehead after falling in the water several times. I believe I would be "Lunatic Joonie"! Thank goodness my humor is starting to return. Humor, I am sure a very important element to a successful quit. Anyway, Thanks for the right-on reply! How many end to end cigs make up one school bus length? Oops, should have mentioned, 100's. We can absolutely do this with the right attitude! Thanks everyone for the support. What a wild ride this quitting thing can be. I am feeling much stronger now, not that I can't still be thrown. I am paying special attention to my feelings and how to manage this quit. Thanks again! I love that line...Crave the Quit! Cravings not bad

Hey Gammy, That nicodemon is quite the trickster and very sly isn't it! We quitters have to watch it, little craving by little craving, and not let it get the upper hand. I've been there and done that and want no more of that just one occasional puff or just one occasional cig roller coaster. Don't kid yourself, as you will be right back to smoking more often than the occasional cig just as soon as the nicodemon deems it the right time. So, Stay close to this site and your changes of quitting increase by 75%! Okay Okay, I don't know if that figure is accurate, but your chances WILL increase (I guess I am getting back at the smoker's lack-of-health statistics). So, strap yourself in and remember that even these slight, seemlessly innocent cravings will not last forever! (That is, if you don't smoke). A New Life - My 1 Year Ramble

Hey Golferman, I'm a newbee here but are familiar with your words of quitting wisdom. One year must fit nice on you! Congratulations! I hope and pray that I also will be able to look in that same magic mirror one day to see the same freedom fit. Some days I look forward to the adventure and others I just want to hide. I hope you meant that you will not be posting about a certain subject but that you will continue to post in general. See you in S. Africa in 2007 as non-smokers?
