Very Panicky Today

Hi Debora,
I am so sorry to read that you had such a bad day.  I can relate completely.  As you might know, the first symptom I usually experience is dizziness.  I can remember phone calls and visits from relatives that have caused me to have to sit down because the room began to spin.
Maybe we can challenge ourselves to read through the section on Relationships.  I haven't made it a priority because most of my relationships are healthy and happy - but it's those unhealthy ones or the ones that need some tuning that can really have a great impact.
I am glad to read the box breathing helped and the prayers.  I really can see you are getting better and I hope you can too.  It's simply not easy but you are strong and a fighter and I know you will get through this!

Health Concerns..

Hi Red:

I'm glad to know that their is something that will help with the vertigo.  My mom once had to do special exercises to regulate some pressure in her ear.  I hope they will work quickly.

Sorry to hear that you will be on medication for your blood pressure but thankfully it will help to take good care of you.

You sound very positive about everything and I hope that you will get better really soon,

Carmie

Accomplishments and other Postive Things

Hi!

It has been awhile since I've been able to log in (Possibly hours! ).  I wanted to say how happy I was to read about your quick return to health, Red.  I had seen what you had written about the "rocks" in your ears.  It sounds so much like what my mom had (her doc called them "crystals").  She hasn't had any troubles since she learned the exercises (I think she lays on her back and turns her head and such).  Well, I am just tickled to read your update and wanted to say hi!  Good luck with everything!

Very Panicky Today

Debora,
Hi - it's been awhile.  I wanted to share that I had a great couple of days.  I am appreciating my health so much more.  I also wanted to share that my husband has challenges when it comes to my anxiety, too.  We had an argument the other night about it.  He just gets scared and doesn't know what to do.  I tend to keep to myself or talk with my daughter or friends when I need help.  As a result of my "dance with anxiety", I have learned that MANY of my friends have had anxiety and panic and it is so nice to know they understand.  One friend who was housebound for a time has made it very clear that I can call her anytime of day - she is such a good friend to have.  It's interesting because she experienced anxiety during a trying time in her life when she and her husband were trying to have a baby - with no results.  They traveled to Vietnam and adopted a son - and her life changed - almost instantly, her panic attacks went away - from the moment she met her son.  Within a few months, she became pregnant with her second son.  Anyway, just wanted to quickly say hi and share this nice story.  I will pray for peace in your family!

Very Panicky Today

Deb,
Vincenza's questions and good advice reminds me of a couple of weeks ago when I was alone and sick at home and scared.  I called a friend who said "You're alone at home?  Honey, you should embrace that!  Make yourself a cup of tea, fix yourself a bath, light some candles and enjoy!"  She gave me a new perspective on how to spend my day!  I took her advice and it was pretty nice (although my husband and son came home pretty much just after I drew the bath).  You deserve such a break, Debora!

Very Panicky Today

Hi Debora,
Sometimes it's easier to think of good things to think about rather than to avoid negative things.  Does that make sense?  Davit once spoke about our backpacks and how we could fill them with positive thoughts.  Maybe you could write out some positive things to put in the backpack of yours.  Here are a couple of starters - you are a great friend to all of us in this community.  You always think of something kind to say to all of us.  You work really hard and you are a great mom and a great wife and a great person.  From there, I'm sure you can add lots more.
Do you have any Nancy Drew books around?  It might be a nice treat for yourself.  Don't forget to eat, rest, and smile.  I will take my own advice, too!
Take care,
Carmie

Help with exposure homework please

Good luck, Meleva.  I can share that in learning to face my specific fear regarding running (being too far away from my car or home), I feel much better prepared for other situations.  We had a snowstorm the other day and I had a really nerve-wrecking ride home from work with my sister (who is someone who can make me anxious in general).  Anyway, I was able to employ the techniques I learned here - and remained really calm the whole way.  It was such a great feeling!  And of course, I couldn't have done exposure work around driving with my sister in a blizzard, but it was a great opportunity to test my skills.
I should also share that it took me a couple of passes through the sessions and the homework before things started to really click.  I thought that I had it the first time - but soon saw that I needed a review.
There is also an auxillary session on relationships.  Honestly, I haven't taken it yet - but it's on my to-do list.
I hope you'll keep us posted on your journey.

Very Panicky Today

Good morning, Debora,

I hope that your night was not too bad.  I have heard that perimenopause can be extremely challenging.  I'm not looking forward to it.  Thank goodness I learned about anxiety this year so I'll hopefully have a few years to practice CBT before I have to cope with this.  It does sound very scary.

I had to work a bit this morning and I am hoping to spend a nice day with the family.  We are not big football fans but a lot of our friends are pretty excited to watch a game today - so we will likely join them to have a little fun.

Hope you have a very nice Sunday,
Annemarie

Health Concerns..

Red,
Just a quick note to say that I hope you enjoy your trip to Arizona.  It sounds wonderful!  You are taking your physical and mental health seriously and I think that's wise.  I think that you are positioning yourself for a really great year.  Enjoy your vacation.
