Brenna, the SSC should use that quote for the quote of the day. It is stellar!

Welcome Catindublin. Congrats on your decision to quit! I never could have made it this far without the SSC. Just remember, sign in here, read, and post an SOS, then wait for a response BEFORE you slip! Everyone here will hold your hand and help you through the tough days ahead. It does get easier. It seems like for me 3 months was a huge hurdle. After that, the smoking thoughts and craves really diminished.

For me, that 50 day mark was a major milestone. Imagine making it half way to the beach! I noticed an increase in cravings around the 60 day mark, and again at 90-100 days. I can say that I thought much less about smoking and had significantly fewer cravings at 100 days than I did at 50. At 50, my mindset was one of a smoker adapting to life as a non-smoker. At 100 days I was a non-smoker who experienced occasional cravings and junkie thoughts. It's much the same way now. I'm still facing situations for the first time as a non-smoker, and am learning that I can get through them just fine. I am also experiencing new health problems, or shall I say old health problems that smoking covered up. This is most distressing. I try to focus my thoughts on moving forward in a healthy way, rather than feeling guilty for the unhealthy habits of my past. Brubaker, congrats on making it half way to the beach! :)

Hey Bog! Glad to hear you have not yet given up the fight. Stick close and let us help you through this. You sound determined, now make it happen girl! Just had a thought. Has anyone tried using a punching bag to put nicodemon in his place?

Welcome back, Bog. You are indeed a Survivor! If you remember nothing else, remember this. Smoking can never improve anything. It is just a bandaid, to cover up whatever it is that you choose not to feel. Nicodemon will only have control over you if you let him.
Stay close, stay strong and stay quit.

Today I spent some time reflecting about the journey I have been on for the last 200 days. Without realizing it, I found a part of me that I never new exhisted, something very much alive and dying to be free of the slavery of nicotine. That inner me is more powerful than I ever could have imagined. For those of you just beginning your journey, and those of you repeating it, consider the fact that the first three days of your quit will rid you of the physical addiction. It is the psychological addiction that has control over you after that. This journey really is all about harnessing not willpower, but the power of your inner self. Dig down deep and you will find it. Quit for yourself because you believe in yourself and you love yourself. You will be amazed at what you can accomplish when you do something for the right reasons. This truly can be a journey of a lifetime, and a journey that lasts a lifetime.

Butterfly, it sounds like you might have made it through this tough crave. I'm sure there will be more to come, but hopefully they will become less frequent with time. It sounds to me like you dug down deep and found your inner strength. You felt the love that you have for yourself. You felt the love that everyone here has for you as evidenced by their posts. Why would you

just want to not feel anything anymore

Every journey has its challenges. It is those challenges that make the journey memorable. What did you learn from this one?
