addiction

Hello Vee.  I read you're post, Self Care, and it sounds like you have been doing a lot of reflecting which is good.  We are all different and it comes down to each of us finding out what makes us do the things we do.  It sounds like you are a little down on yourself for succumbing to the pressure around you.  What if you begin now setting yourself up for the next time you encounter this pressure.  In your mind practice the way that you will say no.  A no that will be understood as NO.  Many times our body language says more than our words.  You may be saying no, but they may be seeing yes.  Does that make sense?  Maybe if you can do this it will give you confidence for the next pressure situation.  It's all about one day at a time.  Good luck!

New here :)

EMJ715,

Nice job and you should feel proud of yourself!  I had the same feeling you have now.  I was shocked that I made it two weeks when I could barely make it one night.  That alcohol voice gets pretty loud when you haven't given in to it so keep your guard up.  Use your new found confidence to get you over the hard times.

AV uses both good and bad to test you

No doubt you will enjoy that car High Tower.  Overpowering that AV is tough and it's never ending isn't it.

You're so right about not being happier after a bottle of whatever hors controle.  It's one of the things that keeps me from not reaching for a bottle when the AV gets loud. :)

Hopeful newbie

Hello Bassman and welcome.  I'm glad you found this site too.  You will find support here and people that understand what you are going through.  You said that your goal is abstinence.  Have you tried to abstain before?

Hopeful newbie

Hors controle,
The thoughts of developing memories with a new grandchild should get you through some tough patches.  Congratulations!

Bassman,
It sounds like you know what works for you, that's great.  A lot of the difficulty on this journey we're on is finding what's good for us.  Stay strong and keep working!

hors controle,

I have the same concern and was going to contact the site but ran into the same problem.  Hopefully someone from the support team will reply with a solution to this issue.

hors controle,
My join date was after yours but I remember more moderators too.  I also find it scary that someone could use this forum for such things, and I also find it sad.  I hope things are going well with you.
