4 months

Congrats on your 4 months Litsa. Your doing great at 1/3 of a year !!!
I found that my craves really dropped off when I thought of myself as a Non smoker rather than someone trying to quit.
Wishing you continued strength in your quit.

Energy level increase?

For me it was about a month before I felt like I truly had more energy .I was such a zombie the first month not myself at all.
I think we use any extra energy up on will power the first month to fight off the craves.
Keep focused, each day does get better.

21 Days to break a habit?

Positive thinking is very important but as Jim says always keep your gaurd up.
For the most part I feel I have this addiction beat but then out of the blue something can trigger it.
I hadn't craved a smoke in my car for almost 2 months ,then suddenly as I was driving this guy was leaning against
a bus stop all relaxed puffing away on a smoke and I wanted one.Maybe it was just because he looked so relaxed and I was having to
rush around that day. It didn't take long to get it off my mind but it is strange how the thought can  catch us.
Your doing great keep it up

SLY Reaches the Beach!!!

It feels Wonderful Ashley.
I can remember when I started , my goal was to make 3 days then a week ,10 days ,2 weeks ,a month .
Now here it is over 100 days and I know there is no going back now.I feel very confident and powerful.
Looking back it really did not take long for me to feel good about giving up a 40 year habit.I am finding
I am not even needing the substitutes I had put in place, like my tictac that I took for the cig that I would have driving to work.
Now I am just hoping that my loved ones that still smoke can see how much better I feel and have the convidence to quit too.
Again a Great big Thank You to All here for their sharing and support. which was a great help for me.
Christmas is almost here and I know I am going to be way to busy the next couple weeks to think about smoking so I am wishing you all
a wonderful smoke free Christmas and continued Strength in your quits.

What is the first step

I believe the Key is to really want to quit.
To really believe in yourself.
Prepare yourself and have support like you will find on this site.
Also become your own best friend as you will be needing to talk yourself through your craves,( they really are shorter than you think )
Remind yourself of the positives and that each day will get better.
One of my favorites is that first breath of fresh air as I start my day smoke free.
Wishing you Strength in your quit.

forgot to introduce myself

Hi Paige.I remember feeling not myself or that something is missing. It was the habit and not a good one as we know.
It does pass and you will feel better.I just had my first smoke free Christmas in forty years.
Keep reminding yourself of the Positives, Keep Busy and Believe in Yourself.
Wishing you Strength
