Cleansing

Thanks for the reply Working on it.I didn't really cut back before I quit but I was on antibiotics
for a lung infection about a month before maybe that had cleared my lungs a bit.

Facing the morning

My Favorites are the same as Reds
The only thing I will add is that I like to take a nice deep breath in when I wake and run my tongue across my teeth
because my mouth is fresh and my chest is not heavy.

What?s stopping you from participating in the support group?

Yes it has become quieter,I am hoping it is because people are doing well with their quits and not that they have given up.
I don't see most of the names that were here when I first joined.I do not post as much as some as I have a bit of a hard time expressing myself.
I am thankful to those that are so good at posting , its never to much Working On It, Always enjoy yours.
Posting is definatly a good thing ,the responses let you know your not alone , guide you and give you great support.

Change

Very well done Viv and Working On It.Thanks for the Great post's
I too am in the Maintenance phase.
I think the biggest change for me was accepting the fact that smoking did not make things easier to deal with
or go away.So in the maintenance stage I will continue to deal with lifes ups and downs as a non smoker
who is way more mellow and able to take on anything .If life was simple it would be boring.

Illness triggering cravings

Hey Working I  also have a nasty respiratory thing happening.Haven't slept in 3 days.I have not had any craves though.
Instead I am wondering why I am not fighting this better as a non smoker.I can not remember feeling this bad with a cold ever.
The good thing is neither one of us is smoking.Congrats on 300 days tomorrow.I will reach 6 months tomorrow and I hope we are both feeling better.

6 Months

Wow 6 months ,I am so Happy to have reached this milestone.
Thank you to all on this site for helping me by sharing your experiences and for all your encouragement.
In the beginning the days seemed so long and I felt so disconnected.I was always a very organized in control type
and suddenly getting dressed and off to work was such a hard task and I couldn't focus for any length of time.Just
the thought of making it through the day played me out yet I couldn't sleep at night.Reading the posts here let me know
I wasn't alone and things would get better.
Now I am feeling very strong in Health and Mind other than the cold I have and I am so glad I kept saying just one more
day and it will be better.
They say ex smokers are the worst nags but I don't have to be.
The fact that I quit after forty years has helped to boost my Families courage.
My Partner in Life is now at 3 months and we have 3 other family members at various points in their quits.
Not too many more to go to have a Smoke Free Family, what a Pleasant thought.
Other than the fact I am still trying to loose the weight I gained I feel great.
The summer months are going to bring more triggers (like the first camping trip as a non-smoker )but I will be ready for them.
I will never go back ,Life is too good without it.
I am rewarding myself  but have to wait till April 5th when I will visit Santa Monica for a week.
