January quitters

Welcome Deck. Being a dog lover isn't a prerequisite for joining but it helps. :) Also, you do know that pets soothe feelings of anxiety? What better way to help get over the hard spots of quitting. January quitters

Hi MJ, Sure c a t lovers are welcome! I have one too, although I would hardly call my old Siamese 'relaxing'. Ever heard a Siamese cat who wants something? lol Anyway, congratulations on over two weeks smoke free and welcome! I'M FINALLY STOPPING

Hi Boxerson Welcome aboard. I've not been here long myself but I can tell you that these wonderful, caring folks have been a great source of strength and support for me. After almost 30 years, this is the first time I've ever seriously set out to quit and I have every intention of succeeding. Keep a positive attitude and I know you will too! Beer.

Hi Kodi, Hope you're still hanging in. I actually had my first beer since I quit last night. I knew it would be hard but I wanted to do it while I was at home with no other temptations around. I sat down to play a computer game after work and opened a beer. It was the hardest I've had it all week and I keep reaching for and longing for a smoke. But you know, I'm kind of glad I did it at home and got through it. With the weekend coming and the possibility of hanging out with friends and having a drink, at least I've got over the first hurdle and survived. Now, I don't advocate drinking along, :), but you might want to put it to the test some place safe and controlled first where there are not cigarettes within reach. Good luck! Today's been a b***ch!

Ok. This is my worst day so far. I knew early that it was a tough one but it's only got worse. I thought I had gotten rid of all tobacco in the house but now I remember that there are 4 year old cigarello's in the desk (opened package, no less) that as stale as they are, one drag would cure this headache and craving in my body. I knew early today it was going to be bad but fortunately, my mother-in-law called and needed help with her new laptop. It's got Vista installed on it and since I'm the computer expert/geek/nerd in the family, I got called in. That took a couple of hours so there was some time that my mind was occupied. Back home and things just started going down hill. I'll stop now. Sorry for the ramble, I seem to be using this forum as a diary but I do feel better once I've vented. **Please ignore the mad woman vibrating in the corner. :) Kathy My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/14/2008 Smoke-Free Days: 5 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 100 Amount Saved: $38.00 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 13 Mins: 37 Seconds: 40

My quit date

Hi Miss Kitty, Good for you! I think you've got the right idea in setting a date in the near future. I did the same thing two weeks ago and quit one week later. I know that leading up to my date I just kept getting more and more excited, rather than anxious. I hope it goes the same for you. I'm not saying it's been an easy week but Sunday night before I headed off to bed as I was putting the ashtrays away, I had such a sense of impowerment! Go with it and stick to it, it's defintely worth it. January quitters

Hi Jazz, I'm so glad to see someone else around this time of day on a Saturday! This has been my hardest day so far and if you have a look at the other forums you'll see how I've been dealing with the last couple of killer hours. I am determined to make it through today but those old stale cigarello's in the desk and the Cohiba's my husband bought last year in DR are calling, no screaming, my name! You don't know how helpful it is to vent and know that there are people out there listening. Today's been a b***ch!

Thanks guys. The junkie and I are having a few go rounds today. Unfortunately, I desparately allergic to bananas and a lot of other fruit so I won't be using that as a stop gap but I did call my mother. :) Even at almost 45 years old, Mommy's the best one to go to for a boost in self confidence. Thanks for answering. Just being able to answer back takes up a few more minutes and gets me past another wave. Today's been a b***ch!

Ok Mercy. This is incredibly hard but I'm going to take those stale cigarellos right now and soak them in the sink and throw them out.... Today's been a b***ch!

You're seeing this in real time, folks! :)O When I hit enter after answering Mercy I got up, grab the pack out of the desk drawer (there were at least 20 in it) ran water over it and then crushed it in my palm. That was as hard an act as I've had to do all this week. But it's done and I can already feel some pressue easing.
