Today's been a b***ch!

Thanks Mercy. I'm makking an effort to hold on to that feeling of excitment I had the week leading up to my quit date (Jan. 14). I kept telling myself how great it would be when I wouldn't feel the urge to go outside to light up in the cold, or when I was sitting around with friends and had to leave them to go be alone outside because no one in their right minds allowed smoking in their homes. :) And our trip to Cuba in February, I was just dreaming about not caring about being on a plane for 6 hours other than the fact that you're stuck on a plane! lol. Anyway, by the time I went to bed on Sunday night, I was ditching ash trays behind me as I went and feeling great! That's the feeling I want to hold on to and that's the feeling I want to share with all of the other newly nic-free and stuggling people out there. My philosophy has always been that time passes no matter what you do. So, in a year from now where do you want to be and what do you want to have accomplished? You can't make those days not pass, so you really have to make them count for something, don't you? There I go, I've rambled on another several paragraphs, haven't I? lol My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/14/2008 Smoke-Free Days: 5 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 100 Amount Saved: $38.00 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 13 Mins: 55 Seconds: 0

Today's been a b***ch!

Hey DL, didn't I see somewhere that you said you'd moved to Canada recently? Whether you're a native moving back or a transplant, you'll certainly understand why I chose this time of year to quit. :) I'm a really, really, really, big whimp and could put off for hours having a cigarette in the winter if it meant I had to go out doors in the cold. For all the he(( today's been, I know that when I wake up tomorrow and didn't cave I'll be that much stronger! Today's been a b***ch!

It's almost 11 pm here and I'm ready for bed. I've made it through the toughest day so far and I'm willing to admit that I was contemplating coming on here and lying after puffing on some of those old stale stogies. But I don't have to. Will power won out in the end and I'm off to bed, still clear on day 6. My thanks to everyone for indulging my need to vent. January quitters

Thanks everyone, I made it through with your support. I mangled the cigarellos and the stogies don't actually tempt me any. :) Anyway, it's Sunday, another day, and I think I'll go shopping! Hi Phil, I can't wait til I get to that day! But I made it through yesterday's mania and although I'm sure it'll happen again, today is another day and I'll get through it as well. Today's been a b***ch!

Dasiegrl - If I could get through this past Saturday, you can triumph too! Hang in there. Casey - Thanks for the words of encouragement. I made it through and it makes me feel stronger and more determined. And the weather is one of the reasons I chose this time of year to quit. I'm in New Brunswick and today they're calling for -33 with the wind chill. The way our building sits at work, the smoking area gets wind and no sunlight so I've never really had a problem NOT smoking on days like this, at least until I'd get into my car. Anyway, I wish you the best of luck. My husband quit a few weeks ago so I don't have to contend with that. You stick to it! FYI - Oprah and Dr. Oz

For anyone that gets the Oprah show, her favorite doctor, Dr. Oz is on today and the subject is smoking and quitting. I haven't seen it so I can't say how good it is, if it is any good, but I just wanted to let you all know in case you want to catch it. Yeah, kind of makes me glad I'd already made the commitment to quit before I watched this!
