That's why we have 2 tv's. It keeps the fight's down. :) Anyway, it was an interesting show. It's funny, though, that the '4 step plan' the doctor's are saying they've developed and made available on Oprah.com sounds an awful lot like what we do when we join this site. Anyone else think so?

Congratulations, Terry! You've taken a big step. What works for you may be different from what works for others but I will share with you what I did leading up to my quit date to prepare. First off, I set my date for a Monday, since it's been very cold here and I'm too much of a weeny to go outside at work to smoke when it's cold, so I knew that would help, having five days at work. Then I spent the entire week leading up to my quit date thinking of how great it would be when we go to Cuba in February not to worry about grabbing a smoke before going through airport security and then how fast I can juggle luggage to get one when we land and before we climb on the bus to our hotel. I also thought about how great it would be to tell my son/husband/mother/father/friends that I'd quit and how great it would be when I put away the ashtrays and there would be no more of their dirt and smell in my house. I really concentrated on those and other benefits for a week and by the time that Monday rolled around I was way more excited than I was scared and nervous. I still focus on those things and it's helped me get as far as I have.
Anyway, that's what worked for me and maybe those suggestions will help you as well.
You can do this. Remember, pretty much everyone here felt the same fear and nervousness that you are right now and we survivied. :)

I'm doing pretty good, thanks. Last Saturday was tough as you could see if you were on the boards then. :) I was typing like mad! But other than a few twinges, I've been pretty solid. My next milestone is 2 weeks and I'm just aiming for that.

Thanks, Daily Llama. It feels good, even when I feel bad.lol
Anxious1 - My heart hurts for you and your struggle. What gives me hope and should also give great hope to you is that even as hard as you are having it, you're still plugging away. Even with all of the things that seem to be stacked against you, you still have the conviction and determination to do this. That really makes me believe that you will succeed in the end. You make me feel very humble.
Please know that ALL of our thoughts and prayers are with you and please post when you can and if you can't post, at least stay around for inspiration.
Take care of yourself first and the rest will take care of itself.
Kathy

Ok, so it's Thursday night and my husband has been away on his boys trip since Monday night. I was dreading this week because I knew that I could cheat at home and no one could catch me! But I've made it this far and tonight is a hard one. I'm just doing what I did on Saturday and typing my cravings away. :) It's so, so, great to have this forum to vent my issues to because actually putting it down in words makes the problem either go away or lesson.

Hi Islandgirl,
My first posting on this site was also my public declaration. One of the most important things, to me, that I said was that I was not 'in the process of quitting' but 'that I am now a non-smoker'. And that's the way I've thought of my self self since Jan 14th. Whether it's part of the reason that I'm still hanging on going into day 11 or not I just wanted to share what got me this far.

Josie,
I never really get sick and the only sick time I take is when my alergies kick in. I've decided to take tomorrow as a ME day! I feel like 11 smoke free days have earned me that.
