Hello, Just wanted to say CONGRATS TO ALL OF US AT MARCH-MELLOWS We had an awsome week and did a great job with our quits. Here's to another one. Stacey, You can do it. Believe in yourself, see it and it will happen. It does get easier! I am on day 13 and I never thought I would make it this far. This site really does help, so keep coming back. We'll all do this together. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/1/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 13 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 342 Amount Saved: $65 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 10 Mins: 46 Seconds: 28

Stacey, You can do, take a lot of stir sticks or straws, sugar-free candy or gum. Maybe take a book on tape or some different types of music to occupy your mind. What kind of puppy are you getting? I love puppies!!!!! Good Luck on the drive, we will be saying prayers for you! Stay Strong :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/1/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 14 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 361 Amount Saved: $70 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 12 Mins: 45 Seconds: 52

Holy Moly...John W....those stats are FANTASTIC!!! I look forward to the day I am there too! Wow...just awesome! Rachel07: Sorry I cannot help you, I cut back from a pack a day to 5 a day for a month and then quit cold turkey. I know if you do a search for the patch, you might get some useful info. Or, perhaps, call your doctor or pharmasist...I'm sure they can help you out. No matter what though, you can do this! Stay strong girl..... I quit on March 6...the first couple of days were a breeze...and now it's really kickin' in. I too have started coughing up a bit 'o black stuff, but I was actually happy to see it...knowing that it means my body is healing is a good thing! Today I am just TOTALLY emotional. Laughing, then crying, then laughing. It is nice to know that everyone here is so very supportive....thanks everyone! As a fellow March quitter I am happy to say that I got through the dredded "Day 3" yesterday without too many problems. I thought that might mean that today might sneak up on me and be tough but not too bad so far. I am using Chantix and so far it is helpful. Like some others have noted it does make me sleepy but I have found if I get active this goes away and at bedtime I don't mind it all. Having used Zyban in previous attempts, it had the reverse effect causing insomnia and than can be a little trying when you are already edgy. I still have craves of course but for the most part they have not been more than moderate though sometimes persistant. Anyway, have been able to handle so far. Of course the trigger responses are still all there and it is almost comical at times. I catch myself reaching for a cig or even planning how I am going to do something so it can include a smoke. So far I am able to laugh at this conditioned behavior. I have chewed through a number of straws ! Glad to be a March Mellow and working on day 4; 1 minute, 1 hour at a time. POWER TO ALL YOU MARCH-MELLOWS!!!! You guys are all just awesome! Makes me wish I was a March-mellow, too! Your attitudes are so spot-on. You all have great instincts about quitting. I can tell you've done your homework -- and are working the tools on this SSC site. The most important thing you're doing (besides quitting, of course) is sticking close here and posting. You've got a great group of quitters and you'll be able to help each other so much! I'm personally proud of each and every one of you -- hang tough. It won't be easy, but this is SO worth it. And YOU'RE so worth it! You'll all have double digits on your meter in no time. Then you'll be in the TRIPLE digits and on the beach -- and it feels SO GOOD! Keep the faith, March-mellows!! Now, breathe! Don't forget to breathe! It can do wonders for you -- nice, slow, deep breaths -- you will see a difference. Hang in Rachel, keep on trying something other than giving in. Deep breaths, sugar free gum, go for a wlk, or just cry, whatever it takes to ease the pain. Have you thought about trying the Chantix (or Champix, as it is apparently called in Canada) Am feeling for you, have been there. Read more posts. Read the one about Joe Cool. Just keep on trying! Keep psoting, we will try to help!
