Quote of the Day Part Two

People don't change their behavior unless it makes a difference for them to do so.
- Fran Tarkenton

There has to be a reason usually, a testament to our being rational beings.

The starting point of all achievement is desire. Keep this constantly in mind. Weak desires bring weak results, just as a small amount of fire makes a small amount of heat.
- Napoleon Hill

I wonder if this conflicts with setting realistic goals, and goals that progress incrementally?

The mind is the limit. As long as the mind can envision the fact that you can do something, you can do it, as long as you really believe 100 percent.
- Arnold Schwarzenegger

Visualizing is a popular technique which is used by elite athletes and business people to reach goals, and I see this described in this quote.  Today, I grappled with Tai Chi, and the inability to remember anything, wincing if I was every complimented(I was clobbered at my toxic workplace).  It's surprising I'm even able to function, in the condition I left work.

Failure should be our teacher, not our undertaker. Failure is delay, not defeat. It is a temporary detour, not a dead end. Failure is something we can avoid only by saying nothing, doing nothing, and being nothing.
- Denis Waitley

Sometimes I've repeated the same thing, and it's not best for me.  I remember someone commenting on my doing this, and labelling it "neurotic", like the joke.

It is a paradoxical but profoundly true and important principle of life that the most likely way to reach a goal is to be aiming not at that goal itself but at some more ambitious goal beyond it.
- Arnold Toynbee

So I should challenge myself beyond my goal to have that "cushion" or window or margin which ensures success?

Our attitudes control our lives. Attitudes are a secret power working twenty-four hours a day, for good or bad. It is of paramount importance that we know how to harness and control this great force.
- Tom Bland

Having a treadmill for over a decade, I finally resumed using it daily, now for at least 3 days, with the attitude, "I did it before, I can do it again to reap the benefits"

Failure is a detour, not a dead-end street.
- Zig Ziglar

I can't tell if the back soreness, knees & hips is from the Tai Chi instructor's class where she wants me to wear flat shoes, but I think the meeting at my mom's foot doc confirmed it.  I failed to understand that sometimes I have to follow my own reasoning, and just get a light slipper which I can tuck my orthotic into, so my spine is aligned, and I can relieve the stress, using the same reasoning that the foot doctor uses.

The problem with these Tai Chi/Yoga/etc. people is there are no standards, and when they can't explain something, they attribute it to something which can't be proven, like "the universal force" or "chi" whatever justifies their making money from me.

Disappointing, but it's just the way of the world.

Put yourself in a state of mind where you say to yourself, "Here is an opportunity for me to celebrate like never before, my own power, my own ability to get myself to do whatever is necessary."
- Anthony Robbins

Today's celebration, even though it's early, was that I hopped on my treadmill for the first time in the longest time, and started the day with some energy.  I even swiffered my bedroom!

Maybe this will become a habit?
