Wow -- Lula -- This is TOO weird!! I'm back at Square One after a pretty tumultuous couple of months of worst-case scenarios, and as I begin poking around to see who's around, the first thing I see is a totally random message to me!! From today!!
Thanks for thinking of me.... SO glad to be back. Day 1 with a smile on my face.
well hello everyone!!! hands up those who thought I'd gone back to smoking :-))) I'm still not smoking!!! it's now 11 months today, I just can't believe it!
I'm much better, I don't think about smoking very much, now and again but nothing in comparison to the first couple of weeks, and then the first couple of months and now almost never! Actually a strange thing happened a month ago, I was watching a film and the person started to smoke, the camera was full on her mouth as she inhaled and exhaled and do you know I suddenly got this choking feeling and I honestly felt that I couldn't breathe, now I find that I can bring back that feeling of not being able to breathe at will and if I get the odd crave this feeling immediately takes away the crave. Has this happened to anyone else?
I'm coming up for my year anniversary and it's going to be a time of reflection and a time of giving thanks, thanks to all who have put up with me and my rantings!! here I am, if I can do it then you can too, one day, just one day without smoking leads to the next day and the next, before you know it - it's been a week!
Sounds like you are doing great! I love the visualization you use to let do of negative/craving thoughts. I hope you realize how strong you are for getting this far and for finding a solution to help you address your cravings. How are you being present to your success?
Hey there been a while huh! Well today I'm celebrating 8 months smoke free, who would have believed it when I started this journey a lifetime ago! (seems like it!)
I haven't been around for a while becauses I decided to take a step back, I found that my life was being dominated by not smoking and I was becoming totally obesessed so I took the decision to not think about smoking, to get on with my life and if it came up then to brush it aside and continue. The result is that I'm nice and calm, a thought comes and then it goes.....see.. no more no less! I think it's just another phase to go through, something that we have to endure. I remember practising letting the feeling come and dealing with it through time, water and various othere methods that worked for me, now I'm through with letting the feeling come, as soon as it raises it's ugly head I send it off into space and get on with what I'm doing. Up to now it's working....wonder what the next phase will be!
keep strong everyone, lots of hugs and lots more NOPE!!!
Lula - this thread has been awesome inspiration for me! You are completely coherent with your posts - your thoughts and emotions (as you feel them) are a great help already to many (see how many check out this thread??) Don't forget that part! You're doin' great by sticking to NOPE! Me 2! Will not cave this time - I NOPE it!
Peteg - Thanks for your kind words to me on this post. No 2 days are the same but the cravings get less everyday & and the brain cells do come back YAY! I'm recovering more daily! I am happy read the posts and reply where I may (arguably?) have something to offer You're doing great by hangin' in here too bud! Let's all keep the Quit Okay!
Just knowing you're all there....a mail away.....is all the help I need guys. Honestly I'm sick of moaning about my quit but sometimes I just need to let it all out. I'm so looking forward to the day when I can be free and when I can actually sit down and write a coherent help mail to others.
