OK, holidays and birthdays are over, and I need to get back on track. Will start counting again today. So far I've only had coffee w/fat free half and half.
Gained back 2 lbs over the holidays, I guess it could be worse. Maybe I'll dust off my gym membership, too.

Today, 1258 calories...but still feel the need to have at least a popsicle. No exercise today, other than cleaning and laundry for a few minutes.

Has anyone tried the lean cuisine panini's yet? I LOVE them!!! The only bad thing is our supermarket is always sold out of them.

UGH! I truly dislike this forum, but here I am....
I have NEVER had any concerns about weight until I began quitting in May. I am now in need of losing about 25 pounds. I went from a size 4 to an 8 (am only 5', so I do not carry this extra weight well). Currently weighing in at 140 lbs. Like to get down to 110 or 115.
I have been walking between 1/2 to 1 mile after work and about 20 min at lunch I exercise.
I have started the New Year 'eating healthy'---I like that better than 'dieting'.
Yesterday:
Breakfast:
wheat toast
1/2 cup low fat cottage cheese
1/2 cup blueberries
Lunch:
1 small grilled Tilapia
1 cup cooked spinach
1/2 cup rice
Dinner:
Griled Chicken sandwhich on wheat bread
Spinach salad with salad spritzer
late night-Don't ask! Let's just say an extra 350 calories I should not have added. Still better than before!
I will do better today!

All I ate for lunch was a Healthy Choice---how do people live on so little? I'm so hungry......
Listen...do you hear that? A bag of chips in the cabinet is calling my name!
Or maybe I'm hallucinating from to little comforting carbs.

I am so fed up, I am so fat!! This just doesn't feel like me cos for 30 odd smoking years I was 147lbs and i've gained 35lbs over the past however many nonsmoking months and it just sucks rotten!! Actually I'm just bored witless at work and am typing any old tosh just to keep myself awake (04:20 hrs in the UK) Keep the quit and join the revolution!! Exercise till your blue in the face! Maybe I should get a dog to get me out walking. I just wish I were asleep, I am soooooooo tired, 3 hors to go....I wouldn't put my worst enemy through this sleep deprivation!! Do you think I might wake up 35lb lighter due to the energy expended in stress!!! Wish I were rich then I could pack in work! Boy, am I fed up!! Actually that's not true, this is entertaining me no end....A rant and a vent in one!! You gotta try it sometime! Lilly :)

Phil,
Nicotine doesn't burn fat but it does speed up your metabolism and suppress your appetite.
Remember that the weight gain is temporary. You can work on this later when you are more comfortable in your quit.
Until then, start making a conscious effort to eat healthy and eat sensible portions. Also try to start eating breakfast as this helps kickstart your metabolism for the rest of the day.

Missthing,
Please be patient with yourself and your body. Remember your metabolism is in a lull as a result of your quit, it may take some time before it kicks in.
Keep persevering! This weight gain is not permanent. It is temporary. You will continue to lose if you continue to put in the great effort! You did lose 8lbs, that is progress! Focus on your victories.
Danielle
