Get some straws to chew on, gum, and Breathe, breathe, breathe.
Drink Water and wait 2 minutes...the crave will pass.
Give yourself a mental pat on he back each time you get through a crave....with every minute you stay smoke free...
your body is beginning to clean itself up.
It will get worse before it gets better,...but it will get better in about three days...
good luck

jnine,
sure have ...the problem of sitting around not wanting to do anything...but you know what...right now I don't care....
my quit is more important...
I know that my cleaning will hit me soon enough...and I don't intend to have a cigarette hanging out my mouth when I finally get around to doing it.
So right now I'm practicing using the extra time (that would have gone up in smoke) as liesure...which I have never let myself have...
Just call it...my reward time LOL

JT (welcome to the club)
Look on the bright side of this...
"If you were going cold-turkey...it would be 10 times as bad"!!
Remember when that nagging emotion comes popping in your head :eg: (it's your addictive brain, nicodemon)wanting to hide your real feelings behind the cloud of smoke.
I know at week three, I too...was thinking a lot about lighting up.
What kept me from it was fear of going back to day one of the quit.
....Agggggghhhhhhh
N.O.P.E (NOT EVEN GOING TO HAPPEN)
You want to be free? Become the master of your feelings,
(think before you speak, but let others know your displeasure if needed, become assertive in your communication)
Each puff you don't take will bring the craves to end a whole lot sooner. Rationalize your feelings out; Guilt, Anger, Anxiety, are you mad at someone for not doing something?
Are you discouraged from the loss of your best bud (Mr. Nic...he's not your friend, he's going to kill you)
Does your tongue feel like it's going to go through the roof of your mouth from wanting so bad just one puff?
Don't worry, know this is part of the process and it will pass very soon. But whatever you do...don't even take a drag...!! You will just increase the cravings and prolong the withdrawal.
Reward yourself, look at the most important reason your quitting.
This reason is what your reward should reflect!
Example: Some say their health is very important,
Reward yourself with something that will reflect your good health...
(a new blush to pink up your cheeks, excerise equipment to tone up your muscles, a trip to the produce market to get some healthy exotic fruit full of nutrition)
Is it to save money?...hey...this ought to be fun...what would you buy with $45?
Maybe you want to set an example for your kids....take them out for Pizza as their new Non-Smoking Mom
or........Just go outside and take a real deep breath now! Do it again in 2 weeks, and note the difference in your lung capacity!
YOU CAN DO THIS JT..."We All Know You Can"

Hi Rhonda,
Don't know if any of our Buddies here have stopped the Chantix or not. How can you be on week 12? Your Quit meter says 12/31/06 (that's probably only 6 weeks?)
I'll be taking it for the next 3 months.
I will take them too, because I know only too well the anxiety and depression that goes along with smoke cessation (from my first cold-turkey quit of 10 years.
Right now is that blah state (the grieving period). We've buried our friend who we used to do everything with. Now who do we play with?
At this point in a cold turkey quit, you want diversions...other activities to replace the wasted time you used to smoke. Excerise, new hobbies, or such come in handy.
Get involved in something and don't worry about the day to day...mine is too. Remember that the Chantix is probably helping your moods much more than you realize, I would be very cautious about stopping it.
I just keep patting myself on the back that I haven't lit up a cigarett and marking those big red X's on my calendar showing me I have succeeded!
It feels so different now to climb into my car and not have to make sure my lighter and cigs are in the right spot for me to grab..ha-ha
I don't even think about it ...and...it takes me less time to do what I used to do. So yeagh...I'll stay on the Chantix.
