Hey Bear, I don't get hard and fast cravings anymore. The thoughts of cigarettes still go through my mind on a daily basis, but they seem to be fleeting thoughts now. This definitely gets easier! Another thing that keeps me from smoking ~~ I NEVER want to go through the beginning of my quit again. I like this stage much better! Keep up the great work, Cheers, Jan My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/13/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 84 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,536 Amount Saved: $756 Life Gained: Days: 9 Hrs: 12 Mins: 8 Seconds: 10

hey bear.....i know what you mean. Mostly because this is something I would not allow my kids to do. To interact and form friendships online, its dangerous out there. However, I find this pertty comforting too. I had given up on people before I came here and asked for help to quit smoking. And strangers, people I didn't know and will probably never meet, have done everything to help me. (And I didn't think that people cared anymore.) Anyway Thanks for that. Of course I am. I have no shame. Do you hear someone calling? It sounds like Phil is chasing Pat on the sand again. Gotta run. BANANA~ You are singin' my song. I mentioned early in my quit that I had a couple cigs and a lighter stashed in my car...just in case! Boy did I hear about that. It was about the same time as you are in your quit, and then, one day, driving home and craving one, I opened the glove box. I took out the pack. I took one out of the pack. I got the ashtray from the back seat of the car. I smelled it. I put it in my mouth. I sucked on it. At the next red light, I tore all the paper off of it and let the tobacco just fly in the wind. Boy that felt good! So I did the same thing with the other two. Maybe it was my way of saying goodbye to smoking...finally....and forever. The longer you hold on to that "safety net", you will not be fully ready to be a non-smoker. You have to say goodbye, and put cigarettes in the past. Many said they were like me and had a stash, and felt like it was holding them down. I will say some were very creative at their hiding places. But every last one of them felt a much lighter burden when the stash was destroyed. Try it, and let me know. Trust me.... Hi again Bear, good for you on how you handled the stogie. I know that everyone says to throw out all cigarettes & lighters as you approach your quit date but for me, I had to keep the last 2 smokes in my pack & my lighter. They are my safety net. I have no intention of ever smoking them but for now, I need them in my purse....wonder why? I know all about the 'fear' of quitting too. I would get so stressed just thinking about quitting because I've smoked for over 30 years & it was a big part of who I was. If I stopped smoking, I felt, it would be like loosing a part of me...or like part of me had died. Yeah I know what you're all thinking.....better to feel half dead from quitting, than to be dead from smoking! It is very hard to explain but I would literally be in a sweat. Maybe someone else can put it into words better than I can. Anyways, the sun is shining (finally :)) & my dog really wants to go for a nice long walk. You know that old saying, 'If your dog is fat, you're not getting enough exercise" holds true in my case.
