"Must quit but enjoy smoking"

QUOTE: You hate smoking- that is why you are here, you don't want to do it anymore. Now all you have to do is kill the addict living inside you forcing you to be a slave to smoking. END QUOTE 2stuborn2smoke, I've been reading and re-reading your reply all day. Makes 100% perfect sense now. Thanks. Guess this is where I belong now, consumed with how to NOT smoke ?

I posted this on the craving board and a very nice person directed me here. As you can see I'm here all day, a newbie who has been gobbling up the information and support here. I assume my posting will calm down when I get past 24 hours so thanks for bearing with my prolific posting today. This is my question and then I have about 3 hours I see to read all the guidance you long term non smokers have for us newbies. What a great day. I've been here almost all day reading and I just want to see if anyone out there was consumed with the thoughts of how to NOT smoke day 1, dreaming into 3 months, etc., etc. That's all I've done today, though I started this journey on December 24th. This is my real day one though. Also, if anyone can guide me, I'm not sure which board to post on. The craving and withdrawal boards seems quite similar to me. Is this a post that belongs on the withdrawal board? Thanks in advance. "Must quit but enjoy smoking"

Hi Sherlock, I'm new to this site too. I used to love smoking but right now I hate it. I still want to do it, but I'm realizing after 30 years just how clearly and ugly this addiction is. I wish you luck. Peteg, I have to copy your reply and email it to myself, it is the FIRST laugh I have had today. Oh my that is hysterical. I'mallclear, I read your Verizon Support Team and thought that was really cool too. Good luck Sherlock. "Must quit but enjoy smoking"

I just have to add, my husband just rang, I read Peteg's reply to him, we both cracked up and I'm printing it and putting it my handbag and on my fridge, next to my bed, I just love it, it's true, funny, and then so not funny, along with the Verizon Support Team. I also told him join the site when he gets home from work (doubt he will, he can't type). Sherlock, my doctor hinted towards COPD for me and I just ignored it. My breathing capacity is 43% per my last spirometer. And still I am craving a cigarette. I want to be 80 too travelling with my husband. Gotta do it this time!

Congratulations on day 3! And Loopy, crying has been a huge part of my day today. Glad to know I'm not alone. Best wishes! Thanks for last night and is crying normal and cravings

Man, I must have said thanks 80 times today, but THANKS. I've been here almost all day. Nothing was attended to, no wash, no food shopping, no dinner (yet). I called my husband for support, my sister who is quit about 8 weeks. I also called the Chantix support help line as today is not typical for me - I have a job that drains me which causes the most stress for me. I think that is my biggest stress factor - work. Since I started here in the wee hours last night I have not had one drag or puff. NOT ONE in 12 hours now (4 of those hours I slept). I understand the 330 cigarettes I didn't have in the last day don't matter as I cheated and prologned the agony but I can't look back, right. That is the longest I've ever gone in 30 years, apart from flying to Europe and eating nicotine gums. I'll hang around :). I even told my parenting support group I'ld catch them in another month or so as posting on two support groups - my family will never get fed (ah, some humor in my day), I'm actually laughing. What a wild and crazy day so far. And thanks to Josie and the Support Center. I think you guys just may be the ticket for me. Cheers :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/3/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 0 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 0 Amount Saved: $0 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 0 Mins: 0 Seconds: 0

Thanks for last night and is crying normal and cravings

Sorry typo and I don't know how to fix but 330 cigs avoided in the last 11 days. And thanks for the reassurance that the cravings won't be as intense as they are today!
