Encourage me, please

This is my second day... 34 hours now without a smoke. I'm having nicorette with my coffee this morning. Tossed and turned all night last night, and dreamed of having a cigarette. Finally carried one around in my dream, but never smoked it. I feel like my mind has become obsessed with quitting, (or wanting to smoke) and it's making me feel nuts! I have no intention of going to get cigarettes, as I won't let that thought enter my head. I've never gone this long without smoking and I've gotten this far, I'm going to keep going. Any tips on getting the crappy thoughts to go away? Log into IM

To get the IM working, I had to disable my Norton Internet Security, and also had to turn off the pop-up blocker in Internet Explorer. There is a little Launch button for it on the home site of the support group pages. Once you disable Norton and turn off the pop-up blocker in IE, it will just open a little chat window. I had the same problem. Good luck!

Day 1 - 18 hours and counting...

Mercy & Windy, Thanks for the support and responses! I haven't tried out the espresso machine yet. I seem to be accident prone today and am a little afraid I'll burn myself! Actually am going to look at it later, so I'll know how to use it tomorrow morning. MMMmmmmm..... I'm like many on here... I've smoked my entire adult life. Can't even remember what it was like not to smoke. It will be interesting to be without it. People think I'm the most energetic person they know, but just wait!! ha! I am feeling better. The evenings are easier for me. Guess I didn't smoke as much after this time of day or something. I've used about 4 pieces of the 25 mg Nicorette gum the past two days. I hate to start another addiction, but I'm not using nearly as much as the package tells you to, and it does seem to take the edge off. As soon as I don't feel quite so vulnerable, I'll stop it. I have just been chewing it when I start to feel nuts! Why do we crave water so much? I don't think I've read anything about that anywhere. I haven't even been hungry either. This might sound weird, but my stomach is prone to being acidic, and nicotine causes more acid, which in turn, made me feel hungrier. I have snacked less the past two days than usual. I'm certainly not complaining. It would be nice not to gain weight, but if I do, I do!

45 HOURS!!!!

Sorry... but I had to brag! I'm so excited... I've never gone this long without smoking, other than once when I was sick, and couldn't smoke. I'm feeling good... I'm going to do it and survive! Thanks to everyone on here... it really has helped. Day 2 was easier than Day 1, and tomorrow, I'll be out of the house more, so I'm hoping it will be even easier. I can't wait to run and be able to breathe! I've accomplished next to nothing the past two days, but I've accomplished MORE in the past two days than in the past 30 years! Hmmm.. is that an oxymoron? Whatever... thank you everyone... this site has been so helpful, and I've had some pretty good laughs reading some of the current and older posts! JoAnn

12 hours smoke-free

Hi Misty, I quit yesterday, and I think Day 2 has been easier for the most part. I'm not so antsy, and don't feel so much like I'm missing out on "something". Good luck to you and keep us posted! I'll be pulling for you!

Day 1 - 18 hours and counting...

Hi Katcha, I almost saved one, but knew that if I did, I would smoke it... too weak. I didn't even trust myself to simply throw it in the trash. I broke it in half and stuck it under the kitchen faucet. How's that for knowing it can't be recyled? Good luck to you... keep us posted. This site has been so helpful and has kept me from feeling so alone with this!

I'm thankful for this site

This site gave me so much determination, I moved my quit date up before I lost that big urge to QUIT! Good luck to you!

12 hours smoke-free

Faith, Love your excuse for whining. I can just see myself doing something stupid and smiling politely and telling people I just quit smoking. I'm a little afraid when school starts, I'll make an a$$ of myself. I hope I have my brain back by next week! While at WalMart today, I bought a new crockpot. Took it out of the box, and the lid was on top, which I didn't see before it was too late. Lid shattered all over my tile floor. Do you think they will take it back if I tell them I just stopped smoking and am a little clumsy? LOL I'm happy to have more of my usual sense of humor back today! YIPPEE! Keep up the good work, Misty!! Congrats on 12 hours!

Day 1 - 18 hours and counting...

Faith... There's my meter! I'm at 42 hours, and prouder than proud! We had an ice storm, and I'm sitting here listening to the ice drop from a tree onto my roof. Hope I still have a roof over my head later! Just kidding, but it really is loud. Thank you for asking, Faith. I'm doing better today than yesterday, once I got past the morning. I don't feel so much like someone died as I did yesterday. So weird... logic tells you one thing, but the smoke monster tells you another! I honestly think I am already breathing better, and that keeps me going! Went to WalMart and bought an Espresso machine... going to attempt to make my own Cafe Mocha! That was my reward to myself! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/31/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 1 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 17 Amount Saved: $1.5 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 4 Mins: 48 Seconds: 26
