Friends?

Hi Sunflower - There may be a myriad of reasons your friend had the reaction she did. And as cybrduke said - her fears and her reactions (and any of her feelings) belong to her. What she is feeling, or how she is reacting is HER process... You hold your Quit close and tight, Sunflower. Protect it w/everything you have. One step at a time. The junkie saw a crack in the wall of your Strong Quit and he snuck in. It's just the junkie talking. OK - so let's spackle that hairline crack and that takes care of that! :) Your friend is on her journey ~ and you are on your Quit journey. Friends work through 'stuff' and challenges. This is a wonderful opportunity for your friend to see (or not) that Quitting is possible. I know that my best friend (who is 10 years older than I am) was one of my most significant excuses for smoking. SHE was OK -nothing had happened to her, SHE is breathing and living OK, and so it goes. I imagine that if she had Quit and I was left a smoker, I would have been upset, would have felt left behind, I would have felt alot... One thing I know for sure in this life is that we don't really know what anyone else is really thinking... You may have been one of her excuses to smoke, dear one. Allow her, her process, and let her know you love her - sounds like she needs to be reminded of that. Hang tight, and focus on your powerful and amazing Quit. Blessings, Love and Light- Healer xox ;) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 34 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,212 Amount Saved: $81.6 Life Gained: Days: 4 Hrs: 11 Mins: 49 Seconds: 35

Hello sammo and welcome, Congratulations on your decision to Quit smoking... The road to Quitting is tough but we are here to support you. Tell us about your Quit? My first 2 weeks I was on this site as much as possible (and I am here at least several times a day now as it just keeps me focused and I know any support I need is also here as it will be for you) - just read and read the posts, sammo - as you will find so much information that will support you on your Quit journey. It always helps to have others there with you who know what you're going through. Take it one moment at a time, and make sure to do the Quit program on the left... You want to build your toolbox of coping skills and proactive behaviors for those tough times. We are here, and you can do this... one step at a time. Post and let us know how you're doing and how we may support you. The Junkie Within

Hi Lady, I read and reread your posts... And am lead to reach out to you. Didn't really plan to write a novel :) What if there are no answers right now? What if it's not about 'knowing' and it's really about 'trusting' and just putting one foot in front of the other. And just breathing and Being and staying in the moment. And when we learn to trust (I share those trust issues w/you, Lady) we learn to trust ourselves first, always. When we have a hard time trusting others, isn't it really that we're not trusting ourselves? That one took me awhile to get... but I got it. I am watching you ask questions, answer some of them, share your amazing wisdom with others, and come here and share your process. Talk about courage... Could these be baby steps in trusting yourself on a level you've never really trusted yourself before? That sure is true for me. This is truly a journey, a powerful journey of self-discovery. And it sounds like and feels like you are in the middle of that magical and challenging 'forest' of self-discovery... Lady, this Quit journey is new for me I know. But I am getting it. I am learning about me. I am learning to trust me. This is all brand new, friend. Trust...Trust and surrender - what a lesson in wisdom that is. I have learned things about me I had no idea at the age of 54... I love the wind in my hair as I walk by the jasmine in my yard and smell the sweet fragrance that I've never really enjoyed due to my addiction. I love how my hands smell now after I put on my face cream in the morning. And I never knew how comforted and safe I felt when I crawled into bed with my favorite sheets billowing out the fragrance of my favorite fabric softener. I've never known this stuff as I have never had an intimate relationship with me. Until now. Have we ever known and truly loved ourselves, have we been connected with our souls? Or were we really hidden behind a nasty, bold and dangerous addiction that wore sunglasses, and hid in shadows in dirty, dangerous dark alleys where drug deals go down, while it stole from us our hearts, our souls, our senses, our thoughts, our feelings, our hard earned money? Hell that addiction stole our freedom. Lady, this is a journey, a process... Honour exactly where you are r

I'm Change

Hi gumphfy - Big congrats on your 5 days!! Way to go! Anger - yepper, it visits me too, and some days it's about 'get outta my way' GRRRRR..... It was, for me, alot worse the first 2 weeks, but the anger is still with me, just under the surface... It does come and go more now, but it's there. I try to be aware of it and I make sure to give myself ME time, which has helped so much... And I walk every day and that helps me too... It moves the energy out and around. And walking also helps keeps me centered rather than upside down with emotions. I go up and down even at 35 days, but it does get better. The best advice I can give is ride those emotions, all emotions that come up, like a wave. Truth for me is that it is like a big tidal wave. Anger, lots of tears, alot of frustration, all part of the Quit. Be patient w/yourself, and like SUNSHINE said - don't hold on to those emotions, come here and vent and get them out. We're here to listen, hold your hand, to support and to care:) Love and many blessings- Healer :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 35 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,257 Amount Saved: $84 Life Gained: Days: 4 Hrs: 15 Mins: 51 Seconds: 50
