Anyone still feeling bloated after 1 month?

Hi Elle - I'm right there w/you. My tummy feels so bloated most of the time, and when I eat most of the time, I feel really bloated. And yep, my jeans are very tight around the middle. I ride a motorcycle to clear my head and of course, have to wear jeans to ride. And my jeans are uncomfortable enough now that I am resistant to even put them on to ride! (really gotta do something about that as riding is a must for me):) I am walking at least every other day, which is helping a great deal, and I am also watching what I eat. I read a post somewhere here that talked about the body sort of blowing up when we stop smoking. It made alot of sense and sounded alot like what's going on with me. You may want to do a search under 'bloating' etc... I have learned in my Quit process to go and do my walking BEFORE eating, as I am also lazy after I eat... So that may help you too. Since our Quit times are so close together, maybe someone with more time in their Quit can answer with more detail... Long and short of it, for me, is that I know I've gained weight, and I am being gentle w/myself and I know I can get the weight off, I've done that before. Just taking it one step at a time. We are going through one hell of a process w/our Quit - so weight gain, for me, is a part of the journey. Another challenge, just what we need, right? :) I did have a challenge when at first I realized what was happening, so I came here and asked for support. In the long run, if we can Quit and stick to our Quit, we can definitely lose the weight. It will take time and focus, so how wonderful the practice that keeps us Quit! :) Hope this helps. Smogfree Shamrocks 3/27

Hey fellow shamrocks:) How is everyone doing? Angelic - we have the same Quit date I think - right at a month - WOO HOO!!!!! :) :p ;) :) ;) ;p -I found the most wonderful reward for myself for my 30 days - soooooooooo excited here!! I rarely think of a ciggie, so the days are just passing by so much easier as time goes by... I do make sure to protect my Quit with everything in me, so there will be no slipping here. My house and car smell sooooooo good:) - I'm mall walking and working the 'diet' posts on this site, and tonight when I was walking, I noticed I felt so light and strong!! I have never felt this healthy and strong, and my blood pressure is normal (which is amazing as it has been high for 4 long yrs. Part of this is due to amazing fish oil, other part, well no smoking:) YEAH! It's amazing - this for me is also the best decision I have ever made. I am proud of all of us SHAMROCKS Blessings to all - Healer xox My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 28 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 986 Amount Saved: $67.2 Life Gained: Days: 3 Hrs: 15 Mins: 43 Seconds: 24

Sorry: I am about to jump off the wagon of quitting pain

We are all here for you, but no one can make *your decision to quit but you. Period. Not us, not your wife, *YOU* Ran out of steam? 8 days? It's hell in there? You bet it is, and ya know what? Many of us are doing it, right now, today, right this minute. We are doing it. So one thing we KNOW: it can be done. There is nothing magical or mystical about our Quits. We just made a decision, backed by a commitment. And it is hell sometimes. Yep, you will defintely have to find a way to get past 8 days w/o quitting your quit. Adam, what do you do when you make a decision that is life changing and you have a bad day, or eight bad days? Do you just quit? hmmmmmmm... Your Quit is yours, and yours alone. Your journey is yours, and although we can be there and support you, hold on to you, listen and care for you on your journey, no one but YOU can do this. If and when you are ready to own your Quit like the rest of us do each and every moment of every day, let us know. We will be there for you. I invite you to do some serious soul searching. Blessings and Light- Healer My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 29 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,015 Amount Saved: $69.6 Life Gained: Days: 3 Hrs: 18 Mins: 19 Seconds: 40

Nothing I read or learned prepared me for the first day....

Dear Adam, Take one moment at a time, stay in the moment rather than jumping ahead of yourself. In other words, take the big picture and make it into smaller, more handleable pieces... That has really worked for me. This journey is hell, it's hard, some days it even feels impossible. But as we know, there are many of us doing it. So this is definitely doeable. It really is a choice. It's about what is MOST important to YOU. Lady's words, and they support me on my Quit journey (go something like this): When you want to quit smoking more than you want to smoke, you will quit. And those words are so true, and simple. This is a hell of an addiction, my friend. It's a choice - and staying Quit is about finding ways/proactive behaviors to support you in staying quit. Stay strong - we are all here for you.
