Okay, I haven't had this one yet so all I can do is give some suggestions:
1. Got running shoes? Just put them on, and start running. Get that i-pod or mp3 player loaded with some great music, and run. Just don't forget to drink some water once in a while.
2. If it is too cold to go running, do you have a membership to a gym? If so, just go there.
3. Or go to the mall, go shopping, or go to the movies.
Well, that's all I could come up with. Hope this helps a little. Whatever you do:
Don't smoke. Imagine how your clothes will stink again, your hair, your breath. Yikes!!! And even worse, imagine how the smoke will pollute your vital organs with every puff!!!
You have come so far, you'd be kicking yourself afterwards if you gave into the nico demon, he is not your friend, he is evil.
Gaby

The school aids at my sons' elementary school are "allowed" to smoke right outside the lobby. On Thursday I could smell the smoke not only coming from their "designated" smoking area, but the smoke had also traveled into the lobby and hallways of the school. Given the strict anti-smoking laws here in NYC I did some research, and found out that they aren't even allowed to smoke on school grounds even if it is outside.
I am upset about this because I don't think that they are setting a good example, but what is even worse they are exposing the kids to second hand smoke. And it is against the law. Do I have the right to do something about this as a person who used to be a smoker? Or is it my duty as a now ex-smoker to educate people about the dangers of smoking? I really don't want to turn into one of those finger pointing ex-smokers though I think I am on the fast track to become one. The other day I passed some smokers on the street, I had to walk thru the cloud of smoke and started coughing on purpose, and waved my hand to fan away the smoke, shaking my head all the while. Isn't this horrible? :quest:
Let me know what you all think about this,
thanks,
Gaby

Hi LG,
Congrats on your 40 days! And welcome to SSC. It sure makes beating the Nicodemon a lot easier. Hope to hear more from you, and oh, don't feel like a downer, please. If something is on your mind share it. It is better to get it out in the open then to keep it bottled up inside which will lead to stress. You'll always find an open ear here.
Gaby
P.S. Gosh a walk on the boardwalk sounds great right now. Just wished it wasn't so bloody cold here.

That is fantastic RissaRoo. At this rate you'll be able to run the NYC Marathon in November. If you ever decide to do so let me know: I'll be standing on the side lines cheering you on.
Super Super Job!!!

Thank you all so much for your input. Yes, I have to say something about this, and I will. It just is too serious of an issue.
Will keep you all posted how it went, Gaby
These pictures are beautiful, Luna. What a cute little girl! Have a wonderful trip. Not only do I admire you for what you are doing, but also for your quit.
Again, have a wonderful time,
Gaby

I, too have noticed that impurities around my chin and nose have decreased since I quit. How about we all treat us to a nice facial with all the money we are saving? I sure plan on doing this when I have achieved the 100 day mark. And since cigarettes are really very expensive here, I'll probably be able to throw in a microderm abrasion with all the money I have saved up by then.

.....nor did I cough while running for 20 minutes straight (doesn't include warm-up or cool-down) yesterday evening.
And even though I used to work out before I quit, this was the first time in a long time that I went running again. I can't describe what a wonderfully liberating feeling it was to run without being afraid to cough out my lungs. Of course, my muscles are sore today, but who cares, my lungs are working! Yes!
I was kidding myself that when I still smoked, working out would kind of even out the effects smoking had on my lungs. Boy, was I wrong! And, I could have run even longer, but was getting kind of dizzy because I had to use the inside track at the Y since it's too bloody cold outside to go running in the park. And the inside track isn't very big, so running in a tiny circle for 20 minutes really makes your head spin.
Well, and then on my way home I passed by a restaurant where folks were outside smoking, and I inhaled some second hand smoke (yikes) after a great workout which kind of ruined the whole experience. And I used to light up right after working out, what on earth was I thinking? :quest:
