PENITENT has 40 MONTHS!

Way to go Pen! :) I shall never forget that you gave me permission to quit "my way" and that in quitting there is only one inviolable rule - you just don't smoke. I need to say something

You are doing great! :) You have it nailed, one second at a time. Keep posting, you need two hands to type! What rewards have you planned for yourself today? Some chocolate maybe, or a special coffee, or a leisurely scented bath with all the candles? I want a cig so bad right now, I can taste it.

Hi new me, I'm glad you got through your difficult night. I'm concerned you aren't rewarding yourself enough - cigarettes stimulated the reward center in your brain (dopamine) it's important to replace that with new rewards, little ones that can happen several times a day, then bigger ones that happen at anniversaries. If you don't do this, it is easy to feel deprived and "hard done by" Rewards don't always have to cost money, they can often be free or very low cost. It is about giving yourself something, it can be as simple as a speciality tea or coffee after completion of a task, or taking time for yourself to do something pleasurable, a scented bath with candles, the time to take a walk in the park or the countryside, cooking yourself a special meal, or you could have flowers or a plant for your house or garden etc Be creative, you are special, you do deserve rewards for what you have achieved, now go and have them! I Smell A Party

No, I'm here, I sneaked in a while ago, I'll have some of the seafood. I've brought along several bottles of red wine too :) Let's draw in close to the fire now it's evening, maybe we should have a sing song? Who can think of some good fireside smoke-free anthems? I need to say something

Well done Lottalifeleft and Lolo, you are both doing really well! :) Looks like you could be quit buddies? My main quit buddy was Rusty, it really helps to have someone else along on the journey. The Magic of 77

Who says there is no magic to 77? I think there is lots, 7 is a lucky number, therefore 2 of them is even luckier. It is also 11 weeks. So I think you should celebrate, also next week at 12 weeks until you get to the magic 13, not only a lucky number in itself, but also a very special 3 months (and that is your definitely your next major celebration) 100 days will follow hard on the heels of 3 months, but there is no need to wait until then to reward yourself and party! Asks any Ex

You are right Stickin, if you allow yourself to dwell on the craves they will only make them worse. But - to Grandma - there is nothing wrong with spending a short while trying to identify what has caused either a smoking thought or a full blown crave, that way hopefully you can find a way of defusing the trigger. However, if the answer isn't immediately obvious, then it's usually better to let it go and move on, rather than let it worry you. Tomorrow I chill on the beach...

Congratulations and welcome to the beach. Please let me know your choice of beverage and I will have it ready for you :) The good news is that all food eaten at the SSC beach contains zero calories and is completely free of saturated fat :) The forecast is great for tomorrow, so prepare to have a wonderful time :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/16/2004 Smoke-Free Days: 1007 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 32,224 Amount Saved: 6,042.00 Life Gained: Days: 138 Hrs: 17 Mins: 28 Seconds: 48
