A really bad day at work

Hey there! Yay for you for passing that store and coming home.  It is these small steps that build up your strength on your journey.

I once was a frequent visitor to this site and just happened to drop in to see how things were going in here.  This site helped me to become alcohol free in August of 2015 and it is accomplishments like the one that you experienced today that will allow you to accomplish your goals.

Keep working and good luck. :)

Hey Julie.  I haven't been here for a while but I see you are still going strong, congratulations!  You and I began our AF journey around the same time, you a little ahead of me, and I am remain AF also.  I'm glad things are still going good for you and wish you well!

I need help and I need it now

Dahilia,

Hello and welcome to the site.  You have taken a very brave step by admitting your problem and often that is the first step.  You have made the decision to stop tomorrow, do you have a plan for what you will do with your time other than drinking?  For me and many others on this site, that time on the clock to say it was "OK" to start drinking or just the thought of not drinking are very difficult.  Having a plan how you will spend your day or evening allows some comfort as you know it will be a difficult time.

I would suggest you read through the threads here as well as the Toolbox.  This weekend will get here soon enough, take the days as they come.  Come back here for support, you will find very knowledgeable people here that have gone through similar experiences.

As for you past seizure, I'm not a medical professional so I cannot help you with that but if you feel your health is in danger I suggest seeking medical help.

Good luck to you.

Another Two Year Milestone

Hello!  Today marks 2 years that I decided not to let alcohol control my life and my only regret is that I didn’t do it long ago.  I gave up something that had become a focal point of my life and I don’t miss it. As a past everyday drinker I no longer wait for that “OK” time to drink.  On outing with friends I no longer wonder if I will be able to drink the way I want.  I’m no longer careful with what I eat during the day to save my calories for the large amount of alcohol that would be consumed later that day.  There are so many more benefits but these are the ones that really stick out in my mind when thoughts of having a drink pop into my mind.

I was a frequent visitor to this site and it helped me get to where I am today.  Everyone that comes here has their own story so each needs their own plan.  Good luck to everyone here in achieving their goal, it is possible no matter how hard it feels at times.

Julie and Gus, I’m glad to see you are still doing well. You were both an inspiration to me during my AF journey.

I wish everyone strength on their journey!

Brand new and nervous

Welcome MurphMom and good job for taking the first steps.  Stay strong with what you want to accomplish and remember everyone starts with a Day 1.  Take one day at a time and try not to think about the days to come without alcohol. Good luck tonight.

MurphMom,

I hope the morning finds you well. For me, the first few days were scary. Change is hard and I had not gone without alcohol for more than a day or two. Having a plan in place for when cravings hit is a very good idea.  Your journey is day to day, but what is your goal? Initially you stated you either wanted to cut back or stop completely.  What do you feel is best for you?
