Feeling blah...

Leanne,

It is really hard to break the habit, but it is not impossible. Stay focused, keep yourself busy and find other ways of making yourself happy! How was up in the air? Getting out and doing things is really important! I know for me, all my friends ever do is "party" and drink, I had to find other things to do. Since quitting drinking I've started indoor rock climbing, hosting "themed" dinner parties and painting on canvas. Just a few ideas... let me know what interests you will take up!

Keep it simple leanne - a day at a time. Try to live the day to the best of your ability. Help someone that's struggling, there is no better feeling than to help another. Habits can be retrained, what can you use to retrain youself in replacement. What do you enjoy that alcohol could hold you back from?

Hi, well....I did go through with the cold turkey. I don't miss the drinking so much it's just the habit that is hard to break....I keep distracting myself with things. As a treat for doing it for 10 days I went to see Up in the Air. Still going strong, it's been 17 days and counting, maybe I can make it to a month...

Leanne,

I'm glad to see that you  have been doing so well! 10 days without drinking is a great accomplishment.

Have you rewarded yourself for this? Maybe a special treat will help improve your mood. Going to see a movie, or just taking some time to do something for yourself (a little shopping trip?). You could also try exercising as this release endorphins and will put you in a better mood.

Members, what do you do to improve your mood when you are feeling down?

Hi everyone, lately with the weather being so grim and grey where I live I have been feeling extra blah and discouraged.

I will say that I haven't had anything to drink in 10 days. That is a big deal to me. I've been keeping busy doing many other things and working my way through this program.

I think cold turkey is the way to go for me, just have to keep reminding myelf not to pick up that first drink,

Anyways, on a lighter note, how does everyone bring their mood up, when the weather is not cooperating and you are feeling down?
