I'm here again.

Hello Renee!  Hello Chris!  Glad to hear your joining the group!  Congrats, Chris, on those two days.  It's hard, for sure, but if you keep reading, lots of folks here can vouch that it is attainable.  I'm on the patch as well.  Stay close....

Oh, by the way, go look for Kristilu's hammock posting in new and general forum for a little R & R!

Miss Marple gets through Hell Week!

Thank you, thank you and thank you for all the well wishes.  I DID reward myself.  After work I went and had my hair cut in a new style.  With the new cut, noticed all the new gray also, which led to a secondary reward, a box of hair dye.  Because I was a bit down about the gray, I also went and bought a video I wanted to see.  On the way home the car started acting funny---lights blinking off and on, then the radio..... When I got home and turned the car off it wouldn't even turn over again.   I really enjoyed the rewards, but I'm gonna betcha it's gonna cost a whole lot more than I anticipated.  Did I stress?   NAW.....cuz I also stopped at the liqour store and bought a special bottle of whiskey!  HAHA!  I'm allowing myself and hubby two very stiff drinks tonight.  After all, tomorrow IS a work day!  But it's not every day you and your spouse go a week without smoking and live to tell about it!  Who knows....there might be some more rewards before the nights over!  Thanks again guys---you are the greatest!

Anyone have a hammock?

My goodness!  How much has Jan had to drink?  Look at her climb that coconut tree bare-footed.  She and Mr. Q have been in the rum a bit too much, me thinks.  That's not your guitar your strumming Q!!!!!

Some Good News....Thought I'd share

Okay CT.   gotta ask---just what do you do with all those inflated balloons?
Tell you what Q---when I was in the hospital this last time my Dr. gave me this little plastic device that you suck into called a volumetric spirometer.  Very interesting device (and cheap).  Comes with a little instruction manual and easy to read table.  It will tell you what you should score as a healthy non-smoker based on age and height.  For myself, I should score 1800-2000.  I can only score about 1000-1200.  The really neat thing about this device, is I keep it handy for when I have a crave at home.  You are actually sucking in (simulating smoking) and the score reminds you just how much your lung function sucks due to smoking!  Ask your Dr for one or check to see how much they cost---I bet it's not much.

The good, the bad, the ugly

Goodness gracious!  Thank goodness I've had too much to drink or I'd be trying to drive to the store for a smoke!  I know better---there are extra patrols out through the 31st looking for folks like me!

Sparky:   My dearest BFVF (that's best friend virtually forever) I know you want to beat this addiction, and, when you are truly ready and determined, you will.  I know it and everyone else knows it....you just don't know it....yet.  Keep on trying.  I talked with someone yesterday who is 82 years old and began "quitting" at 43.  After 11 attempts, they were successful and have been quit since age 62---twenty years ago.  Still spry and active---it gives me, and a lot of us here, hope.  We will be here for you for every quit attempt you make.  Don't wait too long.  I love ya!

Lady CV:  What a classy lady you are, indeed.  What a terrible ordeal you are facing as the "evil ex".  Bless you for your tolerance and understanding of your ex and his family.  I will say an extra special prayer for you tonight.  You, your children, your ex and his family have a very rough road ahead.  It's not easy, I know, but it can be the most rewarding sweet losses to see a loved one exit the world with the ones that mean the most close by.

And God:  Now that I am back with SSC, don't think I'm looney when my prayers include CVDEB, Ladycigevictor, Sparky, Kristilu, CT and GodsPromise....you know who they are and I'm not making this stuff up!

I slipped.....and I'm starting over...

Hmm..... We live in a large log home in a very rural area of Tennessee.  A mini farm of sorts.  I could close the pool, which should have been closed a month ago....   I could clean the barn, the stalls have needed to be mucked for some time now...   I could clean the chicken/guinea coop, they are absolutely gross...   I could do whole slew of things.  I don't want to.
We are definately closing the pool this weekend, but other than that, I'm not doing anything that's not in imminent danger.
AND YOU CAN'T MAKE ME!
I am reading a very good novel and intend to finish it before Monday morning.  I think that's okay...don't you?  I may later take up scrap booking.

I've been collecting large pickle jars for just such an occassion.  So....where did you bury the body?  No need to answer publicly (There are snitches everywhere....including the SSC....oh, no, Sylvie....I wasn't referring to you!)
Glad to hear you made it through Day 8.  I'm following your lead by just one day!  Keep it up!

It happened to me!

Oh, Jan, how sweet.  The greatest reward for me was holding a grandchild.  And just think...you won't have to scrub up after a smoke in order to hold him.  You will be his sweet-smellin' nana from the start!!!!  Good for you, Jan!!!!  What a sexy, sweet-smellin' nana you are!
