I'm not real sure I would want you in either of those situations, HP! But I am glad that you could accomplish any of those events without the urge to smoke.
I had heard earlier on a news show that he was 'trying' to quit, but slipping here and there. He's probably blasting Hilary (again) since she made the entire White House non-smoking during her riegn as first lady!
Of course, I also saw a tour of the white house, and there are lots of little alcoves where you could probably sneak one....also a design during the Clinton administration---of course, those were probably Monica's idea!

I expect to see your name on the ballot next time---and if your health care plan pays for that liposuction to be routed from the hips to the chest, you got my vote too!
Just because he smokes doesn't make him a bad person, but by quitting he would send a positive message to the people. We all know this addiction isn't an easy monster to defeat and Obama's public battle with the beast would humanize him and other smokers would identify with him and might follow his lead....

I not only do I remember, but still experience it daily! Getting fewer and farther in-between, and I recognize it and readjust my thinking, but sometimes it is soooooooo consuming!
Good post, Sparky!

Believe it or not, this kind of snuck up on me! Thank you so much for all of your good wishes and congrats. I have been in court all morning and this is the first opportunity for me to log on today---and there my name was in lights
No, HP, three months simply isn't long enough to be over a habit....I am still having days that I trudge through and fall into bed exhausted from the fight. But it is getting easier. Something Msreader posted struck a chord with me, about being over confident once you feel you got a grip on this and thinking that with just one won't hurt. All my previous quits were blown with that thinking and by smoking 'just one'. Live and learn.
I am proud of myself!
Today's reward was booking and paying for the reward for myself and my husband at the end of March (close to our six month quit) and also in celebration of his birthday (4/25), my birthday (4/28), our youngest childs birthday (4/23) and our anniversary (4/24)-----it's a 7 day cruise with stops in Dominican Republic (a private island), St. Marteen, Antigua and Nassau. My husband and I and our daughter! I'm excited!
You guys are the bestest and I don't know what I would do without you!
Hugs and Kisses

Absolutely fantastic news, Rock! I read an interesting article today that I forwarded on to the mods as well regarding simple measures to improve your health and cut down drastically on health care costs. Quitting smoking, nutrition, response to stress, exercise and quality of our relationships/support group are the biggies. Positive changes in lifestyle in these areas are more powerful than any drugs or surgery with physically noticeable improvement within a short time.
So glad we are mastering one of the biggies and SSC counts as one of those social supports. Next I need to work on nutrition and exercise! LOL.
You are doing so well and I am glad you received a clean bill of health!

I dunno, but sounds to me like you want to quit. Perhaps, like Breather suggested, you should read Allen Carr's book, do some more research on the negative long term effects of smoking and perhaps talk with your Doctor. Love to have you join us on this journey!
