Hello people!!
I decided to quit smoking pretty much yesterday and today was my first day. well yesterday i decided the definite date. i have been thinking about quitting for a while, but i was afraid for many reasons, as i am sure a lot of you guys were scared as well about not being able to achieve your goal. Yesterday i had a few smokes left and i said to myself, That's it, i am not buying more smokes.
the first time that i have quit, i quit for 2 full weeks and i tried with the patch, but it made me sick. If i am not able to fully quit, if i go beyond 2 weeks, i will be real happy with that as well.
I think i have a better chance now, because i have done more research on quitting and i have more tips.
There are 2 things that i am using to help me with the quitting. i am taking the thrive lozenge and so far it as been really good, when i had big cravings at work today and felt irritated and nervous. i took one and it really really helped.
the other thing that i am taking is wellbutrin, an anti-depressant, i was giving that a month ago, buproprion is good for depression, but also to be able to quit smoking.
so hopefully with this site, the people on this site, my friends, family i will be able to fully quit forever...
well i think that is all i have to say for now :)

ANXIOUS1
you said that you took wellbutrin in the past and that you had problems with it. i would like to know what happened, because i have been taken that for about a month now.
Before that i was on zoloft, it helped me, but after a while, i didnt want to be on pills anymore, when i slowly got weened off the zoloft, i started to feel really depressed, so i went back to see another doctor, the one i had didnt seem to really care and didnt seem to be as knowledgeable the way i think doctors should be.
She decided to put me on wellbutrin. I am a very depressed person and i have anxiety as well, so i kind of know what you are going through.
Reading this thread as made me cry, (possibly because it is my first day) :) it is really nice to see a lot of people to care and give advice, and by reading what you guys have written and how much you guys all encourage and help eachother, i really have the feeling that this time i will be able to quit smoking and get better.

yeah i really think the wellbutrin will help me with the quitting as well as this site!!!
I really thought that my first day was going to be tough... it wasnt as bad as i thought it would be, well of course i was at work and i cant smoke there, so it makes it that much easier. but now i am home, and it is harder, i started crying just by reading some posts in the site, i thought i was fine. human nature can be so weird sometimes. Fine one moment, crying the next, and then being fine again, so on and so forth!@!!~!!

well i hope things will get better for you. you had a small relapse, it is normal, after all rome wasnt built in one day...
is there anything you are currently taking to help take the edge off???
if not, maybe you should look into it. it would be better to have nicotine gum or lozenges than starting smoking again.
One thing that i admire that you did, is that when u bought a pack, you threw it away... that must have been tough, that was a big thing for you, i mean you could have said to yourself, "well i will just finish that pack, and then i will stop again." but u didnt do that, so congrats on that.
i dont know if this help or if it makes sense but hope it help a bit.

i am taken nicotine lozenges to help me with the craving, and i found that today i took more than the first 2 days.
is this going to get worse???? i really hope not, but i think i am dreaming, thinking it wont get worse.

i know it might have been unappropriate, it was not my intention at all. it just thought it was really a weird thing because i usually dont feel this way and i just wanted to know if anyone else might have gone through the same thing.
it is not like i asked if you guys had tips on that subject, if there was anything i can try or something like that
i simply wanted to know if i was alone or not for that.
sorry if i offended anyone.
and thank you robin for not making me feel even more like ****.
