I REALLY NEED ADVISE...I AM GETTING SCARED

16 years ago 0 967 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
I know I need to excersise. I keep telling myself that, it just seems that I have really regressed, like sleeping is my only coping mechanism right now. I am always drugged up so I don't feel the anxiety and the craves that I associate with it, which makes me to tired (in my mind) to move. I need to do this, I know how good it makes me feel when I do. Thanks for your concern, glad you made it through your concert ok. I was actually at the casino with my mom and hubby yesterday and it didn't even phase me. I guess I will just wait for more of those days to come, keep yesterday in the back of my mind, carry it in my back pocket if you will to remind me, it will be ok. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/6/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 151 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 4,530 Amount Saved: $566.25 Life Gained: Days: 12 Hrs: 7 Mins: 51 Seconds: 38

Hope both you and Moss had a great weekend! I agree with DL and just wanted to chime in with my two cents. More regular exercise and yoga will do wonders for your health, self esteem, anxiety and will give you that general glowing from the inside type of feeling. It may be a huge benefit when you add that into the medication that you are taking and I believe it will also help to get you off the medication sooner. Do everything you can to make exercise and I mean really sweat it out exercise a priority. Just my opinion but I think it might be a good one! Made it through my concert this weekend and still didn't smoke...just showing myself the true benefits of why I don't want to be a smoker anymore. Take care you guys! Patrick, you are so wise, I don't try relaxing enough at all. I thought about getting into Yoga. Thanks for the advise. Yesterday was a pretty wonderful day with family, hardly thought about smoking at all. Then I woke up today and it starts all over again. No triggers (that I am aware of) to set it off, but I am working on it. I thank you so much for the advise. Moss..(((right back at you a litle late))) Kelly ;) My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/6/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 151 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 4,530 Amount Saved: $566.25 Life Gained: Days: 12 Hrs: 7 Mins: 49 Seconds: 40

Hey, Kelly, So sorry to read all about your anxiety-laden life. I'm shocked that your meds aren't helping you that much... what's that all about? I understood that you were going to have an extra-rough time when you gave up the cigarettes but I was hoping that the compensation of feeling cleaner and healthier would break the drive into further anxiety... sort of create a nice balance... I would say that you'd benefit greatly from a regular one session a week of Yoga - either in the morning before work or at lunchtime!! What do you think? You have to train your mind as much as possible to cope with the anxieties. So, short sessions of meditation (get yourself a trainer or an evening class) and Yoga will grow anxiety-release triggers in your mind. It'll soon become as much a habit as saying your prayers like when you were a kid before getting into bed! When you're at work, do you practice box-breathing when you feel even the slightest bit of anxiety creeping into your mind?? It works to calm you down and helps you to clear your mind of the worry-seeds... It's like a sitting-Yoga - just take a few moments to breathe in and out steadily to a short count like 1-2-3-4 and repeat until your shoulders relax... patrick My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/18/2008 Smoke-Free Days: 108 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,700 Amount Saved: $1,215.00 Life Gained: Days: 20 Hrs: 3 Mins: 3 Seconds: 22

Hang in there Moss and Kelly. I know this is tough. I was scared I would get fired during my first few months quit - it was a real struggle. Anyway, somehow I got through with plenty of emotional instability (had to find places to go and cry). But yes, some sense of normality does return gradually. I have noticed there is often a significant improvement at month 5, and then a further boost between months 6 and 9. So I survived, and actually got promoted after a couple of years, so I did get my relative sanity back..... eventually. Hey Kelly, Sorry, the thread is in "forum for new users" It's called-- No-ember check in. Yes, things have been better, still craving some but I have a better handle on the emotions involved. Have been talking with the doc weekly. I made a mention in other thread but he feels the OCD is a larger factor in this than I originally thought. It really kicked in in my early teens but I have managed it fairly well thru my adult years, until I got rid of the cigs. Anyway, still plugging away. Glad you have been having some better days. Will check in with ya later.
