Great Job Kathy! Hang in there! Life is like that, somedays you're the windshield, somedays you're the bug! Just keep fighting, because in the end, you WILL triumph and you will feel so very great because of it! Each day is a bit better than the day before so keep on working it! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 321 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 8,025 Amount Saved: $3,386.55 Life Gained: Days: 42 Hrs: 4 Mins: 2 Seconds: 30

Hi Phil, I can't wait til I get to that day! But I made it through yesterday's mania and although I'm sure it'll happen again, today is another day and I'll get through it as well. It's almost 11 pm here and I'm ready for bed. I've made it through the toughest day so far and I'm willing to admit that I was contemplating coming on here and lying after puffing on some of those old stale stogies. But I don't have to. Will power won out in the end and I'm off to bed, still clear on day 6. My thanks to everyone for indulging my need to vent. Hey DL, didn't I see somewhere that you said you'd moved to Canada recently? Whether you're a native moving back or a transplant, you'll certainly understand why I chose this time of year to quit. :) I'm a really, really, really, big whimp and could put off for hours having a cigarette in the winter if it meant I had to go out doors in the cold. For all the he(( today's been, I know that when I wake up tomorrow and didn't cave I'll be that much stronger! yes, yes, yes, Kart and DL!!! You've both got it! Lucky you! You dont have to be freezing your butts off outside anymore...you can actually enjoy the plane ride, kart! I've just made two round trips to the mainland and they were a breeze compared to all those ones for years where I squirmed in my seat, unable to relax. Just keep doing this wonderful thing for yourself throughout the next few weeks...one minute at a time if need be, and soon you will be truly laughing at the nicodemon's attempts to get you to feed him. Good on you for dumping those yucky cigarellos, Kart! Kathy, It's great that you've battled and won out over the nicotine addiction for 5 days... I'm right behind you with 2 days after 50 years smoking (60 now, started at age eleven)... I had to smirk tonight when I was at my niece's house for her 1 yr old's Bday party... I saw all the men and a couple of women going out onto the front balcony over and over again - putting on their boots and coats and scarves and hats just to stand in the freezing cold outside for 2 minutes sucking on a cigarette - and then taking all those clothes off again when they came back inside... it just looked ridiculous and yet, a couple of days ago, I was one of those nutcases. Tasting the freedom here!!! Thanks Mercy. I'm makking an effort to hold on to that feeling of excitment I had the week leading up to my quit date (Jan. 14). I kept telling myself how great it would be when I wouldn't feel the urge to go outside to light up in the cold, or when I was sitting around with friends and had to leave them to go be alone outside because no one in their right minds allowed smoking in their homes. :) And our trip to Cuba in February, I was just dreaming about not caring about being on a plane for 6 hours other than the fact that you're stuck on a plane! lol. Anyway, by the time I went to bed on Sunday night, I was ditching ash trays behind me as I went and feeling great! That's the feeling I want to hold on to and that's the feeling I want to share with all of the other newly nic-free and stuggling people out there. My philosophy has always been that time passes no matter what you do. So, in a year from now where do you want to be and what do you want to have accomplished? You can't make those days not pass, so you really have to make them count for something, don't you? There I go, I've rambled on another several paragraphs, haven't I? lol My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/14/2008 Smoke-Free Days: 5 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 100 Amount Saved: $38.00 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 13 Mins: 55 Seconds: 0

Kart, Remember too.....all your yucky feelings is your body healing. Smokers are silently sick. Every blood vessel.....every organ in your body and even you brain chemistry is all amiss from smoking. Take it easy. Be kind to yourself. Pamper yourself just like you do when you have a flu. Sleep more.....rest....and let yourself heal. Give yourself a chance to feel like you were meant to feel. Think also..... we smoked just to feel normal. We didn't get high on smoking or really derive pleasure. We smoked because we felt miserable and to make us feel like the non smokers. If we were with a group of non smokers....we excused ourselves to go outside and wolf down a cigarette so that we could come back inside and feel like them. You don't have to do that anymore. YOU WILL FEEL NORMAL AGAIN. I wish there was a way to rush the process but healing takes time. Mental attitude is huge. This is an EXCITING journey. A fun journey!! It's is something new, different and fun. A journey where you finally get to know the real you. Your making a new and better person that will no longer be a prisonier but a person who finally appreciates freedom. You really can do this. You will be counting weeks and then months in no time at all. Wait till you see how fast your stats will grow.
