Kate, come back we need you here. I had two weeks and blew it  I was going to wait and come back later, but Lady pointed out why wait 15 days it could turn into 15 years and I know that can be so true. I got stopped once for a month and took a couple puffs - 7 1/2 month to try again. I found this site and although I slipped I am starting again. Love to see you back soon.

Ericon, thanks. It is kinda easy to pick us out of crowd, huh? I have tried to apply the principles to my stop smoking, but have found it hard. The word addict is hard for me, but I am just that. I had someone tell me that about a year ago and it just made me mad. But this time I pulling out all the stops. I use the word cig in all my daily readings and check here often. I am getting honest with those around me. When I feel good, I let them know and when it is getting hard I tell them. I do not want to lose this quit. I am powerless over everything!!!!! ;p

Finalquit & Kandlwoman congrats on your decision to quit.
Finaquit I too find it easy for the first few days, and then I lose it. I have never got passed 30 days, but I am well aware of what happens to me up to that point. Each quit I get closer.
Kandlwoman welcome. I don't even know how many years I kept saying I was going to quit, but here I am. I have not smoked today and I plan on going to bed tonight smoke free. I will worry about tomorrow when it gets here. Don't be afraid to ask for help, it is here. Take care and be proud ;)

Grace, the car ride was not to bad. I had water and some candy with me. Also, from the past I have a straw cut down to the size of a cig. Just breathing air in from the straw helps. But if I caught myself thinking about cigs I would tell the thoughts to go away ;) and start to think about something else. Grace are you a frined of Bill W? Just wondering. Hope the car ride goes well for you.

Yesterday I went out of town to have breakfast with some "old" friends(hundred mile drive.) That went well, but when I left them to come home there are couple casinos on the way home. I stopped at them. The monster was alive and well, just waiting for me. I knew if I stopped I would have to deal with him, but I didn't think it was going to be a royal fight. Anyway when I left in the morning I ask for help from my higher power asking him to remove all temptaions and desires to smoke. In the casinos I wanted a cig so bad, but just could not ask for one or find a descent butt. Know matter how hard I tried to find a good reason to smoke the block wall was put up. I knew that the day would be hard as it has been day 8,9, and 10 have always been struggle for me. Anyway I did not smoke. I wish I could say I fought a good fight and won, but I know better. It was my higher power fighting the monster with all his of might.
My day thas been a good one so far. Got up this morning had a nice breakfast and went for a 3 mile walk. Breathing is sooooo much better. Everyone have a great day!!!

Thanks to you all and my higher power I am begining week 2 ;p Most of week one went very well. Yesterday afternoon the monster was trying to take control. As I have said before days 6,7,and 8 can be tough for me. All I wanted was a puff or two - right :eg: I went to my AA meeting, which can be a test in it self, then went to Walgreens, where I use to buy my cigs. Instead of buying cig I bought finger nail polish. I came home and went to bed, but had a restless night. Got up this morning did some reading, walked the treadmill for 3+ miles and now I am feeling much better. Hope everyone is doing okay. Have a great day!!

I too watch family memebers die from smoking; yet I kept on smoking. I was different, more than likely I'll get cancer anyway - why stop. You know the head games. I know that today I just want to be smoke free. Hang tight and congrats on three days
