The monster got me

Well I made it two weeks, but I could not fight the monster. I walked, I read, I talked to myself, but lost. I have set a new date. I am not sure if I can ever get stopped. I have tried so many times, maybe I am just one of those that can't make it. Each one of you that have a good quit going enbrace it with all your might. i have tried to quit so many times!!!!

greentears25 , I had two weeks going and blew it. I really do understand what it feels like. My husband quit three years ago when I put them down. He is still stopped and very supportive, but all I can manage is a few days and then bam. This is a great site and it will happen for you. I can feel it. People, places and things

Congrat on one week. I also have another addiction and believe it may the same as yours ;) Could you be a friend of Bill W? Anyway I think it is great that you have seven days. I know what you mean about the smell of a smoker. When I smell them I think oh my did I smell like that? Well we don't have to worry about that any more do we? Keep it simple and one day or one moment at a time. Keep your quit going. Reflections of an aging hippie

Interesting post. I know my stats only show a few days, but in reality I have been trying to quit for four years. I will tell you that I am in recovery for alcohol. With God's grace I have not had a drink in almost 30 years. I do not desire a drink. I do not think of drinking any longer. To say that we in recovery wish we could have a drink or a fix is pompus. There may be some, but I have not met many. I will say my craving for a cig has lessen a lot since I put them down. I have faith if I do what is in front of me I can do it this time. Yes, smoking doesn't cause blackout, reckless driving, loud arguments, or making a total a-- of oneself. But smoking robs you of life, serenity, special moments, self respect. Smoking kills!!! It takes away loved ones way before their time. It dimisses you diginty at the end of you life. Enough. I wish you well on your quit. Your contract is intersting. I said I would go for a year sober and then see what happens. Then I said five, then ten, then fifteen, then twenty, then twenty-five and now thirty. Still have not found a reason to drink. Now I am finding reasons not to smoke. How do I get this smell out of my car

HI, I used carpet & room pet fresh oder elimintor cleaner. It is a vacuum free foam. It works quite well. It will take 3 or 4 times before you really start smelling the difference. I usually spay it night when I know I am not going out and make sure all the window are closed. Spay it on the floor, if your seat are cloth spay it there also. I use now just to keep the car fresh. Try it :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/2/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 11 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 119 Amount Saved: $33 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 14 Mins: 1 Seconds: 49

Just Thinking

I was just thinking about all the post I have read lately and how some of them really saved my a--. I now have 12 days and this is were the monster starts his games with me. I know from the past I have to stay focus and not let him get the upper hand. Life has been good to me and I want to share that. Had a good walk (3 miles) and worked in my flower gardens today. It is so nice to be outside and work and not have to stop for a smoke. Can it get any better? Have a great evening everyone. Coping

Earlier today I posted that I had to take a friend to the hospital. She had out patient surgery. I dropped her off and brought her car home. I mentioned that she leaves long butts, easy few puffs. I looked and there were a lot. I told the monster to die and leave me alone. When I picked her up she stopped in for coffee and cig (outside.) I said it was okay for her to smoke but she needed to take her butts with her :p She had no problem with that. In fact she wants to stop smoking also, so we talked about my quit. In fact all my friends and family are very supportive. So the monster lost and I gained more confindence. It's been a good day.
