last night...

Looking forward to your quit. Although I had gone back to smoking I still came here and read. It helped. I have gone cold turkey this time. It seems a little easier. I read a book by allen carr and it seemed to help. I also reworked the tools here. I am just taking it minute by minute sometimes. You take care. What do you do?

Lady, I do not have much quit time behind me, but I do have life experience. I was raised my a negitive mother. So I grew up that way. It wasn't until I was in recovery for alcholism that I saw it. I have worked a lot on that and have turned it around for the most part. I would suggest that you first tell your self that you are worth while and that you are very special. Do this for a month. Look into the mirror and say it. I did and it really helped me with self esteem. You send such postive post to all of us here on this site and I for that I am grateful. You are more positve than you realize. I had someone tell me when I was only seeing the negtive to stop and write down 10 things you are grateful for. I think, no I know, if you do this you will feel much better. You can not be negitive if you are full of graditude. :) I don't know what is vanishing for you, but you have appeared in my life and others here. Take care and I am sending you my thought and a great big hug!!! encouragement!?

hurstk, You gave me such a lift tonight. Your story made me laugh and smile at the same time. It must have been the day for out little pea brains to try and think. How dare they. We need to find a quite place and just relax. I think it was great that you threw those cig away. That tells me that you want to quit more than you want to smoke. You said " I DO NOT like feeling this out of control!!! And I am getting rather upset about the whole damn thing!" Isn't better to be upset about this whole damn thing than smoking? Do you remember how you smelled, how you had to leave and go smoke, how you had to make sure you had enough smokes to get though the night, how about that cough that got up in the middle of the night and while you up you smoked. You are not out of control quite the oppisite you are in control and the mr nic is haveing a fit. You take care and I'll say a pray for you tonight. One week

Melanie, thank you. I have quit enough times that I knew what I was and am in for. I don't want to sound better than, but the first two to three days have always been pretty easy. Sure I have spaced out feeling and short temper, but wanting to smoke wasn't to much of an issue. It is when I get out there that the mind games start. I have tried the patches, gum, zyban and smoke away. This time I am going cold turkey. With the patches each time I stepped down I went though withdrawal all over again. The gum made me sick and the smoke awy worked for awhile. I use the zyban alone and with the patches. The key thing for me with this quit being cold turkey the nicotine is out here. I did some reading. Not sure if can mention the book, but it helped a lot. So I take it as it comes. I know I will have to deal with the mind games and it is around day 10 that it really grabed me. So I keep telling myself to tell people about day 10 and will fight like hell. I have never gone past 30 days, so I am looking forward to that. Week one was okay, day 6 was mind games, but made it though. I read a lot of the postings here. I guess the most important advice I got from a non-smoker was never give up quitting; One day you will have smoked your last cig. That person had several tries before she became a non-smoker. I hope this helps, Melanie My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/2/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 7 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 78 Amount Saved: $21 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 1 Mins: 8 Seconds: 0

Stinking thinking

Well, I knew the monster would try his best to have me smoke sooner or later, but he is losing. Thought of a cig sounds so good, then he has won and I have lost. A long drag off a cig would only cause me to cough, look silly with the smoke coming out of my nose and mouth, I would have the great perfume of smoke cascading all over my body. Now really doesn't that sound great. Or my thoughts can be, breathe in freash air and not cough, enjoy the clear smooth breath, wash my hair and have it smell fresh, take a bath and smell wounderful. Put on clean clothes knowing they will smell good for hours. I can not let this monster take away my quit and it sure helps to come here and post my thoughts and read yours. My day is going well as long as I can change my thoughts. Duffis said it well the power of postive thinking can carry one though just about anything. Everyone have a great evening. Made two weeks

Well, dear friends I have made it two weeks!!!! Hate to say this, but I woke up this morning really wanting a cig. What is this about? What a way to celebrate - a strong crave. Guess I'll put on my walking shoes and go for a walk. Made two weeks

Well I made it two weeks, but I could not fight the monster. I walked, I read, I talked to myself, but lost. I have set a new date. I am not sure if I can ever get stopped. I have tried so many times, maybe I am just one of those that can't make it. Each one of you that have a good quit going enbrace it with all your might. I am going post this in the newcomers also. Thanks to everyone one of you.
