Galations 5a;16 "Walk in the spirit, and you will not fulfill the lust of the flesh." I hope you like this devotional I typed out below. It makes me think of us. Hope you enjoy....I did!! Mercy A LESSON FROM THE OAK TREE Have you ever noticed that in winter some oak trees retain their leaves long after other trees? Even the stong winter winds and the early spring rains do not completely strip the oak leaves from the branches. But as springtime progresses, warmer winds blow and something wonderful happens. Tiny buds start appearing at the tips of the twigs, and the dried remnants of the preceding season fall off. New life replaces the old. At time...old habits cling to out lives with the same tenacity as those oak leaves. Even the winds of adversity do not remove all the lifeless leftovers of our fallen human nature. But christ, who dwells in our hearts by the Holy Spirit, is at work! His life within us continually seeks to push off the old habits.... renewing us when we want to falter..and strengthens us. When every effort to cast off an old habit seems to want to end in failure, remember the mighty oak. Thank God for His Spirit who lives in you. Keep saying ...YES.. to His gentle urging. Those "lifeless old leaves".. will eventually drop off. Some Chicken Soup!! Unless the Lord had given me help I would soon have dwelt in the silence of death. When I said, "My foot is slipping." your love, O Lord, supported me. When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought joy to my soul. Goodevening Everyone, Once again thank you Mercy. I have been keeping up with all your wonderful posts. One thing that has helped me through this is the following poem. I am sure that we all know it well. Footprints in the Sand One night a man had a dream. He dreamed he was walking along the beach with the LORD. Across the sky flashed scenes from his life. For each scene he noticed two sets of footprints in the sand: one belonging to him, and the other to the LORD. When the last scene of his life flashed before him, he looked back at the footprints in the sand. He noticed that many times along the path of his life there was only one set of footprints. He also noticed that it happened at the very lowest and saddest times in his life. This really bothered him and he questioned the LORD about it: "LORD, you said that once I decided to follow you, you'd walk with me all the way. But I have noticed that during the most troublesome times in my life, there is only one set of footprints. I don't understand why when I needed you most you would leave me." The LORD replied: "My son, my precious child, I love you and I would never leave you. During your times of trial and suffering, when you see only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you." written by Mary Stevenson Hey Convicted I hope you are doing well. Our prayers are with you. May God continue to bless each and everyone of you. Hi Mercy, Great post. I know that Chantix has been a miracle worker for so many, but I was only on the medication for 2 and 1/2 weeks. I know who performed the true miracle in my quit. I agree with Windy, a lot of us on the site have a strong faith. With all the kidding around, we don't say it enough. However, I do know that a lot of us are praying for each other during tough times and good times. May you have a blessed day and thanks for the post. It is great to give credit where credit is due. Dear Mercy, I just hope that our use of aids doesn't mean we are snipping. I'm almost at the end of my prescription and I'm a little worried about "going natural". You are a dear. You always have something to say that is brief yet is so appropriate for those of us struggling though the same addiction. Bless you, Audrey :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/16/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 61 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,237 Amount Saved: $170.8 Life Gained: Days: 6 Hrs: 0 Mins: 29 Seconds: 2

hallelujah, Glad this was finally recognized. I cannot start each day without thanking the Lord. And I am not devout! I am one of "those catholics". Yes, you my friends have helped me to get through each day, but know I check in beforehand with our maker. It comes from previous trials, but what the hell. He works for me. In the past I always prayed to God to help me quit. Of course I never made it past a few days. This time around I was getting ready to pray for help AGAIN. Something inside me told me to quit before God gave me a reason to quit. Now 69 days in, I realize that I have 10,000,001 reasons to quit!
