Awww thanks guys. Your support means so much. Yeh 100 days is really something. Who would have thought ld ever make it this far?? Not me. I had close to given up on myself so to anyone in early stages keep at it. Persistence in quitting wins the race. We can put the nico-demon/monster/**** head to bed!

Thanks so much for remembering and for all your ongoing support. Yes its been a bumpy journey for me and l still dont consider myself out of the woods yet. I will know when the nico-monster in me is finally dead. Until then l have to stay aware and vigilant. Im sooo happy to not smoke anymore....l dont want to give up this feeling. And the not drinking that goes with it is a great bonus.

Hi Sparrow,

I think you hit the nail on the head here. "I had too many failed attempts to count and had lost hope. As long as you keep trying there is hope." The only way you can fail is if you QUIT trying. "Ive just got to hope that time changes my mentality." It will trust me. I can't say how long it will take, but it WILL happen. Just take a step back and look at where you are now. Almost a quarter of a year behind you as a quitter. Correct me if I'm wrong, but you quit forever at the end of summer, and have made it almost all the way through autumn. (The seasons throw me for a loop down under, I'm a northerner.)

Anyway, you're doing it and that's all that matters. You should be proud of yourself too, we are. Just be sure and keep your guard up at all times. You know those triggers will try and sneak up on you when you least expect it. The light at the end of the tunnel is getting very bright for you now isn't it?

Im checking in to say lve reached a new milestone. In this last week (week 9-10) my cravings have subsided another level. Before when l would think of smoking ld feel like "oh l would just love to have one". Through this last week it feels different. I feel like smoking would feel choking and unpleasant. When l see smokers l no longer feel envious. I havent dropped my guard though. When l feel down or lonely l still miss it as an activity to keep me company. I think that the wrong set of circumstances could still bring me undone. So now l have to let time pass me by until l reach the stage where l know that l would never under any circumstances smoke again. Ive just got to hope that time changes my mentality. To anyone in early stages or thinking of quitting l tell you truly the fact that l have come this far means anyone can. I had too many failed attempts to count and had lost hope. As long as you keep trying there is hope.

Sorry, I thought your 2 month anniversary was next Sunday. My bad. CONGRATULATIONS on being a NON-SMOKER, a QUITTER, or whatever you want to call yourself, for TWO months now!!! Awesome... We knew you could do it if you just kept trying. Hope you feel proud of your accomplishment, you should, you really worked hard to beat that addiction.

Keep looking out for those unexpected triggers. Sometimes they will really surprise you when they happen. Have you had to fill out any paperwork yet, where you have to check a box if you smoke? Not checking it really feels good too.

Keep your quit journey going, and enjoy your freedom.

Congratulations Sparrow! Your excitement for being finally free is leaping off the page at me. Doesn't it feel FANTASTIC to have finally done it? And just think, the only thing you have to do to maintain it is to simply keep on doing nothing. Don't pick up a smoke, and you can continue to have this freedom for as long as your little heart desires :)
