January quitters

MJ Something else that's fun here is to see your name on Mr. Ed's Stats Parade. It gives you a real boost! He's the wonderful horse (you'll see what I mean when you find him!) that keeps track of everybody's quit date and posts milestones for people to read along the way. If you look at today's active discussions, and scroll way down through the threads, you'll find the heading "The Daily Stats list - APPLY HERE" posted by Mr. Ed. Hop into that thread and let him know you've joined, and what your quit date was. Don't forget to bribe him with apples and fresh hay! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/3/2008 Smoke-Free Days: 14 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 280 Amount Saved: $106.40 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 13 Mins: 15 Seconds: 30

Welcome MJ! From your post it certainly sounds like you're a fighter, and a winner. Keep up the wonderful, positive attitude, and we can all beat this one together. I don't know if you've had the chance to cruise around the site yet. If not, it's well worth the time. Some of the previous and present threads are most encouraging and supportive - even humourous! So far for January quitters I'm seeing Kartemy, Kristilu, One More Try, Deck, Tubbies, Joy, Den, M.J. and moi (Jazz). Quite an impressive bunch! Have I missed anyone? Hi all of you fellow January Quitters; It's about time I got involved with this group I think. You all seem like awsome people. I don't know how many times I tried quitting before, but never successfully. The trip up was always the thought that "one won't hurt me....." This time I am committed to the quite, and here is why. October 2006 I was diagnosed with breast cancer. If it was lung cancer I would have understood, after a forty year history of smoking! Anyhow, my life needed to change on all levels, so that I what I have been working on. The first of course whas the treatment regime, which I am glad to say is progressing well. Secondly was to reorganize my finances which took a huge hit due to the timing and duration of being out of work. Thirdly, I had to leave my former high stress and physically demanding job as an acute care nurse and find something else to do. I have found a new job which is totally stress free, and addapts itself to my needs and abilities as time progresses. So, Life is Great, and what better time to kick the nicotine out of my life. 15 days into the process now. Am using Thrive gum, but even less of that every day. Also have a fake plasting cigarette for those time I feel I need to be holding one. That's my story, and I'm sticking to it!!! Welcome Deck. Being a dog lover isn't a prerequisite for joining but it helps. :) Also, you do know that pets soothe feelings of anxiety? What better way to help get over the hard spots of quitting. Cold turkey last time, cold turkey this time. Figure I gotta figure this out without the nicotine eventually, may as well do it all at once ??? maybe not a good idea, but the patches don't set well with me... Hi Guys You seem like a friendly bunch of non-smoking dog lovers! Can I join you. I'm also a January quitter, mind you I've also been a quitter in many of the preceeding months. I read from the beginning of the thread but I can't see where the name of us January quitters was officially determined. Will be signing in again and will look forward to seeing you dogs.
