Hey Paul, You are doing awesome! SIX Days is a VERY BIG deal. Tomorrow by this time you will be at a full week...but only if you don't smoke ;p There is a saying "one is too many and a thousand never enough" and it's very true of cigarettes. It's not worth it to try. Once you get through all this initial funk, you're sense of accomplishment will sky-rocket. Maybe you'll meet a nice, non-smoking girl eventually too. Things will get better - hang in there. Have you picked out a reward for your first week down? Wait....time really IS on your side...it is. Get the TIME behind you, Paul. Eventually you'll feel better. All that demon talking...all that speculation.....no no... Just keep doing it my man....each and every day. That is what will get you there.... Knowing that one day... you'll be free and feel better. And you will. I promise... Not one drag...not one puff... Hang in there. Best to you. Melofga Smoke-Free Days: 1702

Hello Paul, Tick tock, tick tock...that is the way it is in the beginning. Time really isn't your freind. But if you are getting through each day by the tick marks of time, so be it. You are not dumping on us. It is why this site exists. Minimize the job, maximize the quit, and be proud. Just cherish not smoking and go through the motions on everything else just for now. Challenge the job thing later. Now is your time to focus on quitting, and as long as you can keep the rest of your life ticking along while you gain strength in quitting you will be in good shape. You're doing great and allow us to be your strength if you need extra. Audrey

Paul Are you still there...sure hope you didn't go for the junkie talk...The junkie will give you every reason in the book to have a butt...It is your job to stand tall and say Not One Puff Ever...Once you say that enough times, you will send the junkie away...You must understand early and often that we are addicts and as addicts have learned behavior and behavioral patterns that are deep in our souls...We are in fact walking mosaics of bad choices...Take the opportunity NOW to turn that around by substituting good choices...I know its hard, but you did 5 days and you can do 6 and then 60 and then 600, but the key is that YOU MUST DO IT...You must commit to saving your life... Stay well nonic My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/25/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 93 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,252 Amount Saved: $651 Life Gained: Days: 17 Hrs: 10 Mins: 24 Seconds: 25

paul, Hold those 5 days close and let's get more days under your belt! No testing the nicodemon, he will reel you back in, if he get his claws into you! Close that door and open the one to the left, the one with all the great moments and feelings you will have as you gain more days :) Josie _____________________ The SSC Support Team.

I am so glad Paul asked that question. It runs through my mind several times everyday. I didn't think I could do without a cig for a day, let alone 6 days. I think about smoking all the time, I too would like just one puff, I think I could handle it. Then I tell myself that it would taste horrible and I wouldn't get that nicotine buzz, so it's not worth it and I move on to something else. It is hard, but so worth it. I am headed to watch tennis in Miami today and I think how nice it will be to not have to separate myself from my 3 friends to go find a tree away from everyone to smoke. I think how nice it will be to not get out of the car after the drive and smoke 3 cigarettes to make up the ones I missed on the drive down. I hope I can continue to talk myself out of it! Not one puff ever. Reading the posts here have made such a difference, thanks to all and hang in there everyone. Alohakeia I see we are still walking side by side - congratulations! Off to enjoy the day without a cigarette!!
