Sparky, Ok, first...I'm not going to be perky, sparkly or positive...hmmmm, not sure what to say then, lol....Keep being honest with yourself Sparky. We have lied to ourselves for years that smoking wasn't going to affect us like other people and maybe we even said to ourselves, I'm young and I can quit anytime...no more lies. Let's just call things the way they are. This really sucks that we have to go through this....but anything worth achieving isn't always going to be easy. Hang tough and keep walking! Now, as for finding something good in the day today? Well it's a brand new day and I think we should all go to the mall and buy something SILLY! Or.. you can smack ME around for sending the hug! You decide which would be more satisfying! Do whatever it takes to get you through the day :) Monica58 My Milage: My Quit Date: 10/31/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 19 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 389 Amount Saved: $171 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 2 Mins: 57 Seconds: 46

Okay, Everybody, I might be among the first ones up this morning; I'm glad to report that the day is young, hopeful, and full of promise. All the bad moods, grumpiness, and everything else are SO yesterday! I hope you'll join me in finding one good thing about today! (Besides the fact that it's one more day on our little meters.) peteg My Milage: My Quit Date: 10/30/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 20 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,015 Amount Saved: $110 Life Gained: Days: 3 Hrs: 13 Mins: 20 Seconds: 46

Dunedude/ Gotta do the IM thing when we're both on, right? SO not into Baptist preaching, but thanks. Me, I'm a former Roman Catholic turned Anglican. Anyway -- not doing so well with connecting with the readings/sermon this week -- trying not to think that if I just had a friggin Camel Light, things would flow a lot more smoothly! Saw you were in San Diego dude -- I went to school in San Juan Capistrano, which is just up the road from you. (Swallows and all that.) Left SoCal in 1972; feels like yesterday .. still can't handle snow and ice. peteg My Milage: My Quit Date: 10/30/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 19 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 994 Amount Saved: $104.5 Life Gained: Days: 3 Hrs: 11 Mins: 35 Seconds: 41

Oh Sparky, I am SO THERE. Fed up and sick to death of the cheery attitude around here.. want to slap anyone within five feet. Want to take a shotgun to any icon that blinks, sparkles, glows, or says "shoot me now." You know what I think, Sparky? I think we have to reach a point where it's not about the people around us sending us those wonderful keep-it-up messages, as vital as they are; it's not about us trying to conform to someone else's idea of what a quit should look like or feel like -- it's about you and me saying **** to smokes. We can either do that or we can't. It comes down to you, and no one else. Me, I had a pretty easy time of the begining, probably because of the drugs. I took the patch away and I hit bottom HARD. Got gum, but don't want to re-introduce drugs into my system until it comes to a show-down between nicotine replacement and starting up again. I'm not so dumb that I won't use the gum to protect my quit. But just like you, I'm ticked off that it came to this. I'm mad at myself for being such a smoking loser, I'm pissed at Joe Camel for his lies and deceit, I'm pissed at all those self-righteous and smug nonsmokers who are clueless, but I'm okay, and so are you. We've put the God-forsaken things down, and they need to stay dowm, right? We keep them down, Sparky, one defeated crave at a time. They have exercised all the control over us they're going to exercise. They are SO HISTORY. Time for us to blow off our irritation and frustration over wantimg another one and tell those Corporate Tobacco companies where to go!!! (And now this mild-mannered preacher man has to get himself together for work on Sunday morning!!) peteg, more or less at my wits end, but NOT giving in for anything My Milage: My Quit Date: 10/30/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 19 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 992 Amount Saved: $104.5 Life Gained: Days: 3 Hrs: 11 Mins: 23 Seconds: 8

Sparky and peteg....We all get pissy now and again....but preacher pete, I am lmao at your sermon! I have never heard a rant so amusing...well done! btw..I heard your sermon, in my mind, with a baptist's flair. It just worked better for me. I think I am going to stay on the patch for reccomended course....I have 3 girls, there is just too many sparkly things here to take aim at!. You both are doing great and have my 100% support. It is going to take awhile I think before our minds think of ourselves as non-smokers. I have to continually remind myself that I dont have to stop at the store...I dont have to have a cig right after a nice dinner, or after a movie...(hint to my reward: 3 hours w/o screamin kids=bliss...god love em) Keep tough guys...your doing great!!! Dang - I missed it too Gonna - I was gonna get out my very better little Orphan Annie Costure and break into song just for Pete "The Sun will come out Tomorrow...bet your bottom dollar that tomorrow...." followed by "If you're happy and you know it, clap your hands" and top it off with "You are my sunshine!". I JUST KNOW it would turn the frown upside down..... (Is that enough sugar yet???) Guess I'll have to put my little Annie costume away for another day... Peteg, Vent away! That's what we're here for. It's okay to be grumpy. Sometimes getting up & moving helps get rid of some tension and frustration that come with quitting. Glad today is a better day and I hope it'll include a reward. You certainly deserve it for sticking to your resolve to stay smoke free. Keep persevering!
