Oh Sparky, I am SO THERE. Fed up and sick to death of the cheery attitude around here.. want to slap anyone within five feet. Want to take a shotgun to any icon that blinks, sparkles, glows, or says "shoot me now."
You know what I think, Sparky? I think we have to reach a point where it's not about the people around us sending us those wonderful keep-it-up messages, as vital as they are; it's not about us trying to conform to someone else's idea of what a quit should look like or feel like --
it's about you and me saying **** to smokes. We can either do that or we can't. It comes down to you, and no one else.
Me, I had a pretty easy time of the begining, probably because of the drugs. I took the patch away and I hit bottom HARD. Got gum, but don't want to re-introduce drugs into my system until it comes to a show-down between nicotine replacement and starting up again. I'm not so dumb that I won't use the gum to protect my quit.
But just like you, I'm ticked off that it came to this. I'm mad at myself for being such a smoking loser, I'm pissed at Joe Camel for his lies and deceit, I'm pissed at all those self-righteous and smug nonsmokers who are clueless, but I'm okay, and so are you.
We've put the God-forsaken things down, and they need to stay dowm, right? We keep them down, Sparky, one defeated crave at a time. They have exercised all the control over us they're going to exercise. They are SO HISTORY.
Time for us to blow off our irritation and frustration over wantimg another one and tell those Corporate Tobacco companies where to go!!!
(And now this mild-mannered preacher man has to get himself together for work on Sunday morning!!)
peteg, more or less at my wits end, but NOT giving in for anything
