That one is hard for me too. I have been taking a walk after I eat, it seems to help and at work I chew gum after I eat. Good luck

Well even though I have less than 3 days left before my quit date this day has to an end and I have had a total of 4 ciggs today spaced very far apart each other and they were ultra lights which is like smoking nothing at all so my chest is starting to hurt and I started to get the shakes tonight....When I got the shakes I ate a bowl of ceral followed by a cigg....I am having a hard time breaking away from my after eating cigg....Any suggestion on how to break that habit?? I did do good today where it came to talking on the phone every phone I had I didnt smoke so it looks like I am finally breaking that habit.....Text TextText

Cali, Just don't smoke it! My thing was to clean something, anything, until the crave passed. After the first couple of meals, it wasn't so bad. I hate to clean. ha! When I first quit I would treat myself to a sucker instead of a cig after meals. Now I am addicted to THEM! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/8/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 50 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 755 Amount Saved: $210 Life Gained: Days: 4 Hrs: 15 Mins: 48 Seconds: 7

Cali, Absolutely correct! Keep as distracted as possible. When I became smoke free I decided to make up a list of distractions - It started with maybe a 1/2 dozen things "to do", and now it's grown to almost 2 dozen things. I keep my list of distractions posted in every room including my washroom mirror. After meals were the worst for me and I had to change up .. So after each meal I go to the kitchen and do the dishes and then I always have something else planned! Stay close and post often. Glad to see you here. This is the right place. I smoked 2 1/2 packs a day, so I had a hard time giving up any of them. I still want one at certain times of the day when the triggers are the strongest. At some point, you just have to not light up. Realize it will be bad at times and be ready for those times. Cali Phil is right - distraction from cigarettes is key here. Write out a list of things that are bugging you around your place - what needs cleaned, what needs mended, what needs thrown out, what new things do you need and will be able to afford with your quit money. Then go at it one by one - get rid of all the things you are tolerating within your environment. Oh and come here and tell us how you are getting on. Remember - take baby steps - just one day at a time. All the best Sharon My Milage: My Quit Date: 10/14/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 136 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,362 Amount Saved: 365.84 Life Gained: Days: 11 Hrs: 10 Mins: 59 Seconds: 12
