Hi Sammo and AlleyAnn, Congratulations on your decisions to quit smoking! It seems daunting at first, but it does get better. There's a great group of people here that have great shoulders that are perfect for leaning on :o) I've only been on the board for a couple days, but I've found that just reading the posts gives a sense of calm. Good luck on your quits! Hi sammo, glad to hear you're gonna join the non-smoking community. One thing that I do to keep my mouth busy is chew sugarless gum, not all the time, but when I feel my mouth needs to do something. It's usually a couple few times a day that I'll just shove a whole bunch of pieces in my mouth ( I would recomend doing this at home or in private). It's fun and after awhile my mouth gets tired and I don't want to do it anymore. :p Trudy My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/21/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 21 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 495 Amount Saved: $62.79 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 8 Mins: 25 Seconds: 0

Hi Sammo,Congrats on your decision to be a non-smoker.I started smoking at a young age because I thought it was cool, I also was a bit of a rebel :eg:. I quit the demon recently after smoking for 35-36 years. When I ran out of cigs that first day I used the nicotine gum for the rest of the day, but the next day I decided that I didn't want any nicotine in my system anymore so I did cold turkey. I am breathing better now and I love to take deep breaths of fresh air. In addition to the many tools on this great site I found that reading and re-reading the section "My Benefits of Quitting-Short-term health benefits"helped the first few days. Welcome aboard! Hi Sammo: I know that the nicdemon will be on the way out of your life. I just read some good advice - count to 8, like this, 1001, 1002, 1003, 1004, 1005, 1006, 1007, 1008 - and see if the crave will stop. Someone dies from smoking every 8 seconds. Can you believe that? That kinda stopped me dead in my tracks and made me very thankful that I am on the smokefree road. Tomorrow will be the best day of your life although one of the hardest. Put them down, clean out the house like Sunshine said - and get on that smokefree road as well. YOU CAN DO IT - I KNOW YOU CAN! I have faith in you. Let us know how you're doing? How you are feeling? Hi Sammo, Yes, Sammo I have quit,I just celebrated my 3 months on Friday, I am so proud of myself. I know that you can do this quit. I don't think it matters about the amount you smoked as far as the addiction. But health wise I hope that you will stand in there and fight with all you have and with those grandchilden, you will be setting a great example for them. When is your quit day? Now it's time for you to help God out, and he won't have so much to do. But He will always be there for you. You are a special person and have made a BIG DECISION. Keep close to the site and I will watch for your posts and will always be here for you. If you would like to email me just let me know and I will send you my address. Remember this quit is for YOU and everyone you love. Blessings and love sent your way.... :) SUNSHINE My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/7/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 92 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,573 Amount Saved: $322 Life Gained: Days: 13 Hrs: 7 Mins: 24 Seconds: 16
