Hello Sammo, Welcome to SSC, this is an awesome site and you will find the support that you need. You will find after a week or so that your breathing will improve. Mine did, I couldn't believe I was beginning to breath really deep. You have made the right decision. I stay on this site as much as 6 hours a day. I'm always reading posts and I try to post if I feel like I can help someone. I also have grandchildren that I occasionally keep. And I didn't like the image that I was putting in front of them. I never smoke around them. I had been smoking for 50 years and this won't be an easy road, but you can do this. What I didn't realize was this is an addiction. Boy was I fooled. I started smoking when smoking was COOL or so I thought. All of my friends smoked so I thought I should too. Stay strong and hang very tight to you quit. I look forward to going through this journey with you. Blessings sent your way!!! :quest: Hi Sammo, How is your day going? What is nicocure, I have never heard of it? I used the patch for 10 weeks and they really helped me. It was a little shakey when I had to come off of them but I know that is was nothing like going cold turkey. I knew that I could not do cold turkey. Sorry about the email thing, I can't download the IM to my computer, I got to the place where I could and it said it would take 13 hours to download with dile-up and that is what I have. And my service is not that good, sometimes I will get dropped right in the middle of something, that is so aggravating. Please keep posting so I can see how you and those grand-babies are doing. Please know that I am thinking of you. You will find really good support here, so just keep reading and posting. Hi Sammo, I just finished reading some of your posts and realized that today is your quit day. Can hardly wait to see your first post as a non-smoker. I have been thinking of you today and know what is going through your mind. I bet your brain was going 90 miles an hour. I remember the day before I quit I had so much anxiety that I thought I would blow a fuse. I will be watching for you today!! Blessings sent your way... Sammo, So tomorrow is the big day, have you began to get ready? That includes throwing every thing out pertaining to smoking. Make sure there are no cig's in the house and have a plan. I know that you have been on the site reading and posting and that is great. But I am wondering about your NRT, if you are wearing the nicocure patch and still smoking, it doesn't sound like it is working too well. With the patch I wore you could not smoke, and I think that is what helped me. If you decided you were going to smoke you had to wait for 2 hours after you took the patch off. Now, that was a long time to wait. I think that would give you time to change your mind before lighting up. I will be watching for your post tomorrow. Remember to be positive and know that it is a journey for the rest of your life. But right now it is a day by day journey. If you get into trouble come and post and wait until you get 10 or 12 responses. By the time you read them the cravings will not be as bad. Hi Sammo, I just logged on and went to see if you had posted, sorry to hear that you didn't make it through the day without smoking. Tomorrow is another day. As long as you have that desire to quit you will eventually quit. What is nicocure, and can you smoke and use nicocure? Sammo, don't let the past hold you back, because you are missing all of the good stuff. I too was getting shortness of breath and I can't believe the difference since I quit. I could tell a difference in two weeks or sooner. Don't give up, I know that it is a difficult thing to do but it is worth every thing you go through. Just being able to breath without gasping for breath what a blessing. I look forward to you next post saying I made it through the day, I will be able to hear the joy in your words, because you have decided to live. You have got a lot more living too do. Sammo, that is so funny I keep toothpicks in the car. The car is a trigger for me. I must have smoked a lot while driving. I will go on the net and read about nicocure tomorrow. Keep in touch and goodnight. Thinking of you. Blessings sent your way!! Hi Sammo, welcome to our community, you will get loads of good advice and support here. It sometimes helps to just read what others are experiencing, you then realise that you are not alone or unique. Just take it hour by hour to begin with, hours turn into days and days into weeks etc..
