SoccerMom, I didn't use the patch to quit but I did take Wellbutrin and chew the nicotine gum. The combination of those two, plus all the wonderful support I received on this site made quitting one of the easiest things I have ever done! Amazing, isn't it!?
I started out using the nicotrol inhalers and that lasted about a week or two...then I switched to the gum because I felt like I was still smoking even though it wasn't technically "smoking". Anyway, after one day of chewing the gum, I felt like a non-smoker. The inhaler made it too similar to smoking.
Anyway, what I'm getting at is, no matter what the method you use, you have to spend as much time on this site as you can during the first few weeks. If not for the awesome people here, I know my quit would not have lasted as long as it has.
The anger, sadness, etc. that I felt during my first (failed) quit didn't come this time because of the people here, plus the wellbutrin and gum.
Good luck, post often, punch the pillow, whatever you must...just DO NOT SMOKE!
Keep us posted. You should post in the weekend pledge post if you haven't already. It helps to make yourself accountable to yourself on here. Worked for me anyway.
