Another setback , tut !

Koneko,

Oops!  I must have missed this somewhere. I see in your previous posts now that you have a fear of chocking while eating which is quite common.

Are you tracking your symptoms and challenging your anxious? Are there some foods that are easier to accommodate than others?  Keep working on learning about your fears and challenging your anxious thoughts.

Did You Know?

As you fall in love with yourself, you naturally get healthier. All the do’s and don’ts of health education can only build a house of straw unless love is the foundation. When you see love in operation in a relationship, you see trust, acceptance of the uniqueness of each person, understanding of differences, and forgiveness of failing.

just got agitated!

Minnesota,

You've come to the right place to express your feeling and it sounds like you've taken some great action to deal with them.

Keep focusing on you and your work and don't worry to much about that of others.

First Time Here

Mom of 3,

Have you been able to pin point the cause of your anxiety? Sessions 2 and 3 of the program are very helpful to help you understand and challenge your anxious thoughts. Keep working though the program and learning about your anxiety.   Behaviour therapy is one of many ways that people deal with depression and anxiety and many people experience great success rates with it.

Members,

Please share what methods you've tried to help with your anxiety and how successful they've been.

No need to read, just doing some major venting...

Diva,

First off - congratulations on working everything out with your school! It's great that you will be able to go back next year and continue studying.

We are sorry to hear that you will be leaving us for a while but we hope that you find what you are looking for and start to conquer your depression as you've done with your panic. foods to help reduce anxiety

Minnesota,

DazedMommy's answer is right on. To eat best for anxiety:

limit
  • caffeine intake
  • alcohol
  • sugar
  • refined products (white flour, white pasta, white rice, etc.)
  • processed foods (cookies, chips, crackers, etc.)

increase
  • leafy green vegetables
  • complex carbohydrates (whole grains, brown rice, oats)
  • fruit
  • nuts
  • lean proteins (chicken, fish, yogurt, etc)
Eating a well balanced diet and maintaining a regular exercise pattern can be very beneficial to those who experience anxiety.

Member, feel free to share some foods or activities that you've had success with.

Summer Strategies

Here are five steps to help begin healing:

  • Talk to a health or mental health professional.
  • Choose a treatment professional and a treatment approach with which you feel comfortable.
  • Consider yourself a partner in treatment and be a knowledgeable consumer.
  • If you are not comfortable or satisfied after two to three months, discuss this with your provider. Different or additional treatment may be recommended.
  • If you experience a recurrence, remember what you know about coping with depression and don't shy away from seeking help again. In fact, the sooner a recurrence is treated, the shorter its duration will be.

Yoohooo Koneko

Koneko,

This should go in success stories! Good for you for working with your doctor to find out the root of some of your anxiety. We suggest you journal your conversation with the doctor and keep a journal of all of the meals that you've had and how you felt when you ate them.

Keep on enjoying food!
