question??

And just think Disneyfan, you will be a non-smoker and won't have any trouble staying in one of the Disney owned hotels that are all going smoke free on June 1, 2007. Yippee, won't that be great!!! Congratulations on 21 days! This is why you think about smoking...

Thanks Alohakeia, you must have known I needed the bump. I don't know why but tonight has been especially hard. I have been dealing with several urges to smoke. I have been through so many situations lately where in the past I would have smoked - a wedding reception, birthday dinner, dinner and drinks with friends, driving over 100 miles, but I never wanted to smoke as badly as I did tonight. I was just talking on the phone to my mom and the urges were incredible, the worst I have had in many, many nights. I told my mom about them (she is a former smoker) and she helped me, but it has been really hard tonight. I know I will get through it, smoking is not an option. Funny how I really haven't had any problems until now, within the last hour. Crazy. First 3 days of Chantix?

During my first week of Chantix I too had the fatigue and irritability. There were a couple of days I could have stayed in bed all day if allowed. I went from 30 cigs to 10 and wasn't getting the normal buzz, so I knew it was time to quit. The cigs didn't taste good and it was annoying to smoke and not get anything out of it. At some point during the 2nd week I felt pretty good and the fatigue was gone. Like others have said, you actually go through your nicotine withdrawl while smoking, so I am certain some of these symptoms are related to the nasty nicotine leaving your body. Congratulations on your decision to quit! You can do it! It feels like a marathon and my endurance is being tested!

Changing, you did not offend this newbie with your post. I appreciated what you said. I knew this quit would be the hardest thing I have ever done in my life and it is. My sister (who quit more than 10 years ago) told me it took her more than a year before she finally felt like she had won the battle. I would be lying if I said I wasn't discouraged hearing that, especially since my quit meter seems to go so slow I can hear it ticking! I want to hear the "good, the bad & the ugly" of everyone's quit, it might be something I am feeling. It especially helps to know that I am not alone in what I am experiencing. I believe the main reason this site is so valuable is because of people like you who are honest which translates to helpful and supportive to the rest of us. Does that make sense? So, thanks for the post and congratulations on 48 (ALMOST 50)days!! I'm hitting my "I feel good" button for you and dancing to James Brown!!! Glad to meet you all

Hi Heather and welcome! I also smoked for 30+ years and am so happy to finally be free of nicotine. I really feel great. It was a big help to me to go through the support tools on the left. Everyone here is very supportive, which I agree is a must when tackling something as big as this! I hope the support you find here helps to make a difference in your upcoming quit, just as it did in mine. Congratulations on making the decision to quit!
